Default Instant Message Question - 01-02-2009, 03:47 AM

Having issues with AOL Messenger that was loaded on my phone. With the AIM Messenger on my computer I am able to send messages to phones by sending messages to the screen name +1####### and they get a text message they can reply to. With the messenger I have on my Curve 8320 I can't it says user is offline, is there any version of AIM that will allow me to do this?? Or does anyway know of any 3rd party Messengers that allow it?? Thanks!

Doesn't work in Jivetalk on my 8330. That would be handy, but I bet the mobile versions of AIM don't have the necessary internet protocols to allow it.

Correction: I just added my cell phone as a contact on Jivetalk (with the +1) and after about 20 minutes, I came online and it worked. Might want to give that a try on AIM, just add the persona as a buddy and giv it some time to register

They have added them several days ago and still nothing they show up offline. Jivetalk is the "bundle" messenger thing correct? It has several messengers in one... do you know off hand if you can be signed on to multiple screen names for a single messenger on it?

Maybe if they just update the AIM version on the phone it might work... we will check it out, thanks for the help, I will pass the info along!

Yes, you can be signed onto multiple screennames for one messenger in JiveTalk.

Have you updated to the latest AIM client? The one that comes with the OS is not up to date at all. Go into the browser and get to the RIM / BlackBerry homepage and take a look at the IM clients they have. Grab the AIM client and see if it's a later version then the one you have installed.
