Default An App to sync contacts to gmail.... - 01-03-2009, 05:20 PM

Is there an app with the capability to sync to gmail contacts and vice versa? I know it's possible to sync the calendar but I haven't seen anything for contacts... Thanks for any help...

Download and configure Google Sync . There is an option to Enable Sync Contacts in the option panel.

Some users experience duplicate entries, while others have perfect results.

Wirelessly posted

Be sure to back up your contacts first in case the sync doesn't go well.

The only problem I've had is Google Sync doesn't format the addresses properly. It needs a space where the Address2 field would be, otherwise is shifts the fields below up one.

I noticed the same problem and had to go back and double-space following the address. Problems also come up when the address may be a little complicated. For instance I have a few contacts with multiple addresses since they have several homes all over the country... I wonder if there's an aftermarket app that can handle more complex entries? I'd pay good money....

I think there are a lot of areas for improvement in regard to the Google Sync App, specifically the Contact Sync ... fell free to post your feature requests on the Google Product Ideas Page.

Not a bad idea, really... What would really be cool is if it implemented all my friends in facebook's emails, updates, and numbers...

Try a free app called Upvise works very well. I did edit my contacts using a spreadsheet to correct labels but it gets the job done.

I can second this. I also use Upvise, very nice and simple routine to import/export from device to the account.

If you are into paying, GooSync does Contact sync, but will cost you!

Outside of that, Google just need to get their dang act together already!
