Default Google Reader + RSS - Best app?

Please Login to Remove!

I use Google Reader as my RSS reader on my desktop (it works well with all my other Google Apps). I was wondering whether there were any good apps for the bberry which sync with Google Reader properly.

I don't like the mobile browser version of reader and would prefer an app. Viigo seems very good but the trouble is, it doesn't appear to sync so I have no idea what I have read or not, and it just sort of piles up.

Can anyone advise? I can't find anything, either in the forums or on Google.

All I want is something that:

1. Shows my Google feeds;
2. Preferably downloads and caches them to make access quicker;
3. Syncs read/unread with Google Reader on the web; and
4. (Ideally) allows me some level of star functionality or email functionality.

As I say, Viigo would appear ideal but it doesn't reconcile the feeds at all, it would seem, which makes it useless to me.

Thanks.

Wirelessly posted

I use Viigo, for RSS, but I honestly never heard of an RSS app for the BB that will syncronize. Would be a nice feature though. I am interested to see myself if anyone else knows of something I don't.

I hope Google could release a Google Reader client similar to the Gmail client on Blackberry.

Doesn't Viigo now sychronize with Google Reader? I'm pretty sure you can put in your google reader credentials in your viigo account on a pc and it will show up and sync with Viigo on your Blackberry.

It can pull your Google Reader feeds, which is great, but doesn't reconcile them - i.e. if they're read on the desktop, it doesn't sync that back to the handset, so you still have to sift through them all to figure out which ones you've seen already. Given I get 200+ feeds a day, that makes things awkward for me.

Freerange does what you need. It's paid, though.

Are you sure that it reconciles read/unread with Google Reader? It's $40 a year and, whilst I don't mind paying for a good service, the support forums have lots of people asking when full Google sync will be available, and no posts saying that it is.

It would be great if it did.

It adds/deletes feeds when they're added/deleted in greader. It does not sync read status.

Best,
Jaime

A native Google Reader app would be excellent - the gmail client is superb, as is the web interface for the iPhone google reader. If they could combine the two.....

Switch from Google Reader to BLOGLINES. It has the best Mobile reader.. Just use regular bloglines from your PC and the mobile bloglines site from your PDA.. Go try it...

There's now a Google Reader client through App World.

I saw that today as well. However that isn't an official client from google its by another third party vendor similar to BerryReader by Bellshare.

I have both Feeds and BerryReader.

Feeds looks like a direct copy of Reeder for iOS (no bad thing as Reeder is awesome). However, it is (currently) far lacking in function and features compared to BerryReader. No background syncing, no ability to email articles, no keyboard shortcuts etc.

However, I am sure Feeds could be brilliant if the developers introduce the same level of functionality that Reeder for iOS and BerryReader currently have.

Until recently, Viigo was the panacea of all readers.

Sadly Viigo doesn't sync with Google Reader - it simply pulls the feeds. Otherwise it's a great app.

I use Snaptu which does import Google reader rather nicely. No wear and tear on battery or at least minimal

I found both BerryReader and Feeds to be serviceable, though Feeds is lacking in some features as you mention. Here's a review: Blackberry App Reviews: BerryReader vs. Feeds

BerryReader is 1/2 price on App World today as well.
