Default Books for Blackberry - 02-14-2009, 07:15 PM

My father is talking about the amazon kindle. He has a t-mobile blackberry curve 8320 and i was wondering if there is an app for the blackberry where he can download new ebooks like the kindle does. Any help would be appreciated.

Check out MobiPocket. It has a BB app you can download and you can purchase ebooks OTA. It appears to work well on the Curve.

Also, it has a desktop version for your PC. With the desktop app you can organize all ebooks as well as convert between many formats.

Sorry, URL is www mobipocket com/en/DownloadSoft/application.asp?device=Blackberry

I also use Mobipocket. I'm able to bring PDF files of books I like and read them anywhere. Great app!

One good thing about Mobipocket is it is NOT just limited to a particular hardware platform. I started using it years ago on a PDA. Yet those same books are still available on my Bold or my new CyBook e-book reader by Bookeem. Mobiepocket also will sych your RSS feeds. They have a free MobiPocket Creator program that will allow you to convert Word, HTML & PDF files to be in e-book format. Take a look at what Kindle will charge you for RSS blog updates. Very easy to run up a $20 a month bill for blog & magazine updates.

There's also shortcovers.com. They have a native BB client.
