HEY! Big news! I just tried the bar code reader in BBM 5.0 to read the bar code at BlackBerry Download. Free software for BlackBerry smartphones and it worked!

So, if you open BBM and select Add Contact, then scan the barcode as if you were adding someone new it prompts you to do whatever the barcode is intended. (in this case, launches some site I didn't really want)

I have a ton on my Nokia 5800. My favorite is QuickMark because it has so many great features but damn, no BB version. Upcode should have a BB version but their site has been offline for a couple of days and I'm checking Kaywa now.

Edit:

Ok, get Upcode at www.upcode.fi. It doesn't have some of the neat features of QuickMark like the ability to add contacts, but it does 1D and 2D barcodes in many more formats than I have seen supported by any other reader.

Kaywa isn't supported on BB either.

Waiting patiently for ShopSavvy to arrive for the BlackBerry.
Seen this in action for the iPhone, and its pretty clever. Would be awesome for BlackBerry.

Can see it at Big in Japan | Developers of ShopSavvy

[tldr version] it scans conventional barcodes and searches the internet for local/net stores and prices

Nokia doesn't have one on any phone, AFAIK, but there are tons available from 3rd parties.

Damn there's a lot of spyware in these scanners! I installed and deleted 3 or 4 after they wanted permissions to the whole phone and after reading some of the EULAs. Wow.
