My GC upgraded to GV last month. You get free SMS to mobile phones...even international numbers.

Try GVdialer with GV. It only adds to the experience. http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...gle-voice.html

shooter, if you are even a casual Gmail user Google Voice is similar. If you aren't a Gmail user you will get used to the interface very quickly. I really like it and only wish that it could be more similar to the Gmail inbox than it is.

I use Gmail a lot, but not from the web page. It all goes right through my 8900. I am getting a bit more used to it, it is just a bit more "clunky." I am trying GVdialer and cardkaller now to see if maybe they can streamline the interface.

is SMS the same as text message?

I don't use text messaging, so my plan does not cover them. Some people do, though, and when they send them to me I get hit with a per text charge. If they use my GV # will this keep me from getting "nickle and dimed" or is SMS not exactly tetx messaging?

SMS and text are the same thing. You can set Google Voice to pass the text to your phone, or you can use SMS from the Google Voice mobile site to avoid charges for the messages.

I use a BB for data, and a different phone for voice. Can I have GVDialer connect to GVoice from my voice phone while using it on my BB? Thatd be a feature for myself and others that use company BB's and personal telephones

Are you asking if you can initiate a call from the browser on your BlackBerry and have it ring your voice phone? Yes, you can. You do not have to access the mobile website from the same phone that you use as a forwarding phone. You could initiate a call or SMS conversation in the browser. In the case of an SMS conversation you could continue to use the browser instead of your voice phone. Just hit refresh every so often.

Text messages would go to your voice phone if you enable it and any email notifications that you set up via email would go to your BlackBerry.
