im going to guess the connection issue might have to do with high demand on the servers. its still brand new im sure theres bugs to work out. give it time. for me on my 8900 it works great so far. downloaded shazam and a few others. works on wifi just fine

Installed but I get an error saying 'unable to connect to the App World server, check you network connection'.

I am having the same problem--any solution?

It appears that the "server" problem is somehow tied to the BES. Someone over at Crackberry wiped thier device add AW and connected no problem. However, once they added the BES he was unable to connect

Ghot home and tried over Wifi and no problems, went straight in!

If T-mobile isn't going to support this then I'm not going to be a happy bunny!

Downloaded this morning and have been browsing off and on ever since. (thus my absence here at the Forums today). I'm on T-Mobile, works great for me.

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

It is very slow in navigation, but it works fine for me. I also downloaded the "free" Shazam, only to find out I can just use it till May 9th. I agree that "free" and "trial" are two different things. Other than that, I like it okay.

I don't get it!

Free on iPhone and Android, but only "trial" for Blackberry. I guess they think that Blackberry users have more $$$

I was able to download it but for some reason I can't use it. When I select the icon, it says that I need to get a data plan that enables browsing. Guess what? I do! I even downloaded it via their website from my BlackBerry! What do I do? And I like in the US, not the UK.

Downloaded last night, i've been on it all day. Good apps, some a bit pricey but overall a great job by RIM.

Default appworld not so worldly - 04-01-2009, 05:44 PM

Hi I got so excited about the appworld release that I didn't notice the only available in USA, Canada and UK info, subsequently downloading it to my Irish Bold. It worked fine and I downloaded a number a free and trail apps. When I went to pay for one of my trail apps using my Irish Paypal account I ran into trouble though.

Does anyone know how long RIM are going to take to roll this app'world' store world wide? Is it going to be a typical snails pace RIM story

Are you having paying with PayPal or is the restriction you are seeing straight from RIM?

Downloaded the app store this morning, it runs smooth and I love Pandora. I really suggest everyone to try out Pandora, free internet radio! Can't beat that.

What are some cool apps? I need suggestions.

Exactly...maybe it's cause I have a Pearl w/smaller screen, but I can't imagine spending much time randomly browsing through app world for software on my BB. App World only shows one app at a time at the first display (do I really need to see such a huge icon on the initial apps displayed!? Wasted screen space.). In all displays it doesn't show any info on the app w/out clicking to go into secondary details screen and then also scrolling down. Also, standard nav keys don't work (1 to top of page, 7 to bottom, 3 page up, 9 page down, though Space for page down does work). Too tedious for me at this point...

I'd prefer to browse on my PC, then happy to go purchase on the BB...even better would be browse/purchase on PC, then email sent to my BB with link to download.

works great for me. Downloaded this morning on my TMO 8900. Very fast. Interesting.

Apps though are...ahhh. Ok I guess. Haven't really found anything worth keeping. However, not much as an app guy. Wish there was a koi pond type of app for the BB! LOL.

But i've noticed a majority of the apps are free but in actuallity, "trial" runs. haha

i read on crackberry that if you are having problems connecting to bb app world while on BES, then goto service books and delete Desktop [IPPP]. I just did this and BBAW started immediately. Has to be a developer issue. Not sure what i lost by deleting that record but i guess ill soon find out.

mine works fine on my 8900. my wifes 8320 has the check network settings error. i dont get it.

as far as shazam it is free for 60 days. after that it is still free to tag songs. you will pay for extra features. if all you want to to is to tag songs then it will be free for you period. even thou its only 4.99 come on 5 bucks that is nothing.

Thats not the point!

Point is it's free elsewhere! We are being taken advantage of!

As per previous posts by me and other UK people about App world coming back with a "get a plan that supports browsing" stupidity message.
I tried this morning, wondering if T-Mob UK had worked it out yet, no, but then I turned on my wi-fi, and clicked the app, and low and behold, it works.

For anyone in the UK getting similar messages, try over wi-fi.

Default UK Vodafone Customers APP World Now Working - 04-02-2009, 06:11 AM

Just read over here that App World is now working for UK Vodafone Customers. It gives instructions on how to get it up and running

As a side note the version has jumped from 1.0.0.26 to 1.0.0.27.

As per the Vodafone post, I have just downloaded the new version change .27 instead of .26 and my phone is just rebooting now. I have a feeling it might work after this.
Will edit once the 5 mins of booting time is up...sigh

EDIT: Yes, it does now work once re-downloaded the new version.

RIM has obv, released it for USA, Canada and UK with something missing that UK needs it to work, but USA and Canada don't.
Shame on them for that, but good for them that they got it sorted within 24 hours.

Thank you for this very valuable post. I struggled with getting App World working all day yesterday. It's nice to have a solution to the problem.

Thanks again. Richard

memory is just below 50 now with facebook, WLM, twitterberry, pocket express, google maps and the app store loaded. And have modified BB.alx for the 4 extra themes.
But I removed BB messenger, BB maps, tasks, memopad, password keeper, all languages except english, brickbreaker game.

they need a category just for free stuff. i dont want to have to filter through every category.

Two months ago, I saw a provocative movie on cable TV. It was called The Net, with that girl from the bus.
