Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere, but Bolt Browser has updated today. First impressions: seems even faster than it already was; navigation is RIDICULOUSLY improved from the painfully slow version you may remember. This will be my browser of choice (for the moment). Just sharing...

I agree, the navigation is AMAZING when compared to prior releases. This browser is very usable now.

But I think this puts this browser a bit past Opera Mini (to me), if only for the ability to input text into forum-type sites as well. Everything else is pretty comparable to OM, and Bolt is actually faster. I'm a fan of the update. Think it's worth a try or re-look.

Yummy.
* Much faster. Wow!
* I can now get into my bank account on the go.
* It can render my local live traffic maps, both the MSN and Google versions.
Only downside I see so far: fonts. OM has much better small fonts. Bolt's look pixelantiquated. | | Offline

Me personally, I've only downloaded one thing today, and it worked without issue. I agree about the fonts/pic clarity - looks a bit choppy. Gonna play around with the image settings a bit later to see if that helps.

It is much, much better. 
But, it still can't bring up websites that use numeric addressing, like 192.168.1.1.

Well I just had a roller coaster exprerience with Bolt. I decided to try YouTube from Bolt. Brought up a clip from one of my favorite antiquated BBC productions. Bolt notified me multiple times that it was doing X or Y, asked me to Open, Save or Cancel, before kicking the clip into the BB media player to Open, which gave me the lovely "unsupported format" error.
I then decided to see what would happen if I Saved instead. And lo and behold, it saved the YouTube video to my BB as a 3gp file! I hit play. It does. I look on the media card. There's the file, saved with some random integer as the file name. I am stunned. I w00t several times.
I then save another file and play it. It saves fine, plays fine, but I notice it's only 1:20 long, and it should be 10 minutes. I then check my first saved file. Same deal. Saved the first 1:21 only.
So looks like we can, using only Bolt, snag the first 80 seconds of any video on YouTube. Maybe we can get it to get the entire video if we can somehow get it to pre-load, or wait a few minutes before hitting Save or something? I haven't got it working yet but one of you may.
Anyway, I had a major WTF moment and needed to share. | | Offline

Update: That's exactly it. It will save the entire YouTube video as a 3gp file to your phone if, when the Open / Save / Cancel box pops up, you wait until your data transfer arrow stops... transferring, before you click Save.
Edit: but only on some videos! Gah!

Wow, I have to say the cursor is much much better. A definite improvement. Alot more usable now.

Just installed it, and I have to agree with everyone. It's great. A lot more stable, and the cursor just zips around.

Another good thing about this version of the Bolt Browser is that it will bring up the "regular" version of websites. Some sites detect that you are using a mobile browser and automatically direct you to the mobile version of their website. For example, the San Francisco radio station Alice@97.3 does this. If you go to Alice@97.3 San Francisco - EVENTS: Mad Hatter Birthday Bash - On Sale Now at Ticketweb.com from the BB browser or Opera Mini, you are directed to the mobile website, which is IMHO, not a good website. Bolt Browser brings up the site that you see from your computer.
Very cool!

I must say I'm impressed with the Bolt development team and the frequency of updates. I love Opera Mini to death, but we only seem to get OM updates once a year or so. Bolt's only been out what, a few months, and they've already updated it 4-6 times with great improvements each time.
There are two things I'd change right now: allow dynamic zooming in/out (like Opera) and change that ugly-ass font. | | Offline
