I don't get any notifications of worth from Facebook. It only notifies me about group changes and such. How come? does anybody else get notifications of other things on Facebook from the app?

Also, man it seems like the app is lacking many features....although it's nice to have it, it just doesn't do much more than a few things...the mobile web version is soooo much cooler than the app itself...i was hoping the app could replace the need to visit the mobile site, but so far it hasn't...

sidenote: i like having separate apps do things other than the web browser because then i can run them at the same time....until the browser supports tabs that is...haha

but hey, i have opera mini and the BB browser so that's two browsers that i can run simultaneously...kinda cool...kinda like tabs

I get notifications for wall posts, friend requests, event invites, group invites, when I'm tagged in something, and messages sent to me based on the notifications I have set in my account.

You must have the email account associated to your facebook account being pushed to your device via BIS. If you don't, you will not get the notifications.

i have that...but i only get notifications for facebook event changes....not wall posts, friend requests, tagged, messages.....etc....

in facebook i have it set to receive notifications for my mobile and so on....

ah, i just realized something....and how weird...

the facebook app is using the notification settings that exist for your email...so if you tell facebook to email you about wall posts, messages, taggings, etc...then you get them on the blackberry app...but if you tell facebook only to notify you via SMS, and on the facebook website for those, but turn off email notifications, it turns them off for your facebook app...which doesn't really make sense because why would i not want to be notified on my blackberry via the FB app, but exclude it from the email notification service...

they should separate them and at least explain it to the BB FB app users that your "email" settings actually adjust the settings on your FB BB app

I think the issue is. You can either get sms or email notifications not both. I tried turning sms on and it killed my bb fb app from working. Also sometimes it will just stop recognizing notification updates. I would try to delete and re-install the app before trying: Try toggling to a new email address. Then wait a day and change it back to the original.

i've got both sms and email working...

i verified it...it's the email notifications settings in your Facebook account that sets the notification settings for your BB FB app....at least right now...hopefully Facebook and BB work together to make it separate

and by separate, i mean separate for SMS, email, and BB app, and continue to give you online notifications when you are logged into the website itself on a computer

Apparently you can get both...news to me. I have a fb app I have no use for sms spam. Did you try rotating emails addy from a -> b and b -> a? And see if that resolves the issue?

yup...it's the email settings from facebook that are controlling the notifications...maybe the new version of the FB app for BB will fix this...who knows...

i actually think this is a FB issue because FB needs a way to distinguish your mobile phone app notification settings from the online, SMS, and email settings....

i personally turned off my email settings and just have certain things like messages on SMS because they are a higher priority to me...of the caliber of a personal message....and then when i'm logged in to the website, any notification is fine with me
