how did it link up people on my phonebook to my friend list?? like what information did it use?? because it didnt link everyone thats on my friend list and on my phonebook.

It sends the info to facebook and it matches it based on emails, names, numbers, etc. It tells you about it if you read

yeah but for example i have one friend with their aim on my phonebook saved and it didnt save that particular friend on to my phone with the info from the profile.

Aim isn't part of the standard contact fields. It only become available if you have rim's aim client installed.

I'm guessing more standard information like mobile phone/name/email address is what facebook is checking with.
