Smile New Blackberry Game - 11-16-2005, 02:43 PM

Hey, what do you think a cool new BlackBerry game would be if BlackBerry ever came out with the ability to navigate left and right, as well as up and down?

2-D BrickBreaker?

Some videogames for BlackBerry, use some keys as a direction pad.

There are some rather nice action games from Magmic (a sponsor of BlackBerryForums) - Enter http://bb.magmic.com on your BlackBerry and download the free trials/demos. There are more at http://mobile.blackberry.com too as well. There's a Gyruss clone (space shoot-em-up) called Proteus, for example, it's really good for a BlackBerry game. Games for BlackBerry will continue to improve.

Thanks,

Those types of games are too dependent on a "type of person" though...(as is Texas Hold-em and other such games)

I was more wondering along the lines of a game that that they would potentially bundle with their original BlackBerry handheld software... one that would be independent of "a type of person".

BrickBreaker is pretty innocuous in that sense... but it only takes advantage of the 1D nature of the Trackwheel. What other types of things might be good for a 2D type of navigation? Are there any good ones out there right now? Any ideas on what a good game might be?

True...

There are a couple of Tetris games for BlackBerry (I think one of them was BerryBlocks) and a couple of minesweeper clones for BlackBerry (one of them BerryVine Sweeper). I've also installed games designed for Nokia/Motorola cellphones onto a BlackBerry before even though they were never designed for BlackBerry. (Since BlackBerry can run off MIDP 1.0 and 2.0).

Places like www.midlet.org (luck of the draw) and www.rimroad.com (BlackBerry specific games, but some outdated such as 950 games and not a complete list), can provide good info.

Thanks,

Most of the midlet.org games are really out of date, kind of link comparing the Atari against a online game of today. I would be interested in seeing more games that would function like BrickBreaker.

Isn't this true of any game?

Not really. BrickBreaker, for example, doesn't depend on gender, age, race, etc... Nor does Tetris.

Texas Holdem would most likely appeal to younger or middle-aged males, etc, as would shoot-em-ups.

Every played lemonade stand? It is this mindless economics-type game that was utterly addictive on a Nokia phone I played with for a while. Burned up 2 hours in a hotel one night (without Pay-Per-View).
