I am noticing it running down quicker, yes. Unfortunately, to use GV seamlessly you have to keep the app running in the background all the time. There's no way around it. Makes you wonder what the app is doing, though, that it consumes resources like that when it's not in active use.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, I just had a killer epiphany.
For those of you with T Mobile on the MyFaves plans, make your google voice number one of your faves. Then use it to call anyone in the U.S. for free 24/7.
Can anyone on T Mobile try it and let me know if this works?

It's only good for business if you ask me, and a small business at that. I have a cell phone, and it's with me at all times. I got an invite, and have tinkered with Google Voice. I won't use it much.

yes, you will have to forward your cell phone/home phone to your gv#, and have it set to dnd. It's not designed for this and in my opinion, it is a little slow on notifications and the transcriptions leave ALOT to be desired, but it's free vm compilation.

AK - I changed my carrier default numbers , under Phone Options > Call Forwarding to my GV number. That way all Unanswered, Busy, Not Reachable calls go to GV.

I also have my GV number set to foward to my cell so I can use that number for those people I do not want to have my real number. Then if I want I can go back in and block them later

A few things just from reading this thread.

Google Voice was not designed to be a voice mail solution. If you forward unanswered calls to GV it will loop a few times before GV voice mail picks up.

Also, adding your GV number and the access number to your "fav 5", "friends and family", etc. may not do any good. I'm hearing that all the mobile carriers are looking into considering these "conference numbers" or "party lines" and thus will not be allowed to add these to your favs list. While I don't agree with this from a personal view, you would be cutting into the revenue of the mobile companies and they want to milk you for all they can get.

You can set your options to allow it to go directly to Voicemail. Make sure you don't have any phones selected to forward calls to and have it set to Do Not Disturb. Yes, this is not it's intended function, but it is feasible.

I say shame on the phone companies if they block the number from the fav 5. They advertise call ANY number for as much as you want. Maybe they will drop their bloated overpriced rates?

As it stands now, I dont understand how they would benefit from blocking it. It's only a forwarding mechanism. All usage charges will still apply to any phone placing or receiving the call.

I'm not a business or small business and I find it very useful. Undesired callers can be dealt with in multiple ways: send to voicemail, treat as spam or block (number not in service message). Voicemail transcription, while not 100% is very useful and I don't see how that's suitable only for business.

I carry a cell phone with me at all times and it's totally useless in the skyscrapers in downtown Houston. With GV I can pick up on calls using my office phone without having to give it out as yet another phone number for me.

Yep... works well with Tmo. I use GVdialer... better than the official BB app, IMHO.

If you set it right, calls in and out are free. I'll post a review of GVdialer when I get up to it.

I'm loving google voice so far. I had no problems using google sync to add my contacts into google, and like that I can set up unique greetings for my family and friends. Like some of you, I am having my cell calls forwarded to GV for the time being, because I don't want to start giving out a new phone number.

My only complaint so far is with how poorly the blackberry app works. It takes a really long time to refresh, and often times I get downloading and server errors. I hope they update the program soon.

The first time I tried to download Google Voice on my Storm I got a message saying the app was not available for my device. I tried again yesterday and it let me download this time. However it seems like the version I downloaded must be for keyboard devices because I had a very difficult time selecting the password field to login to my account. Anyone else tried to use this on the Storm?
