Question jmirc on the 7105t - 11-21-2005, 02:39 PM

I just purchased a 7105t, my first blackberry, and I'm pretty impressed with what this little thing can do. I've got the Tmobile super duper blackberry service package for it.

I downloaded the latest version of jmirc as a .jar, got it to install ok on the second try, and the program itself seems to be functional.

When ever I try to connect to irc (any server, any port, any network) it brings up the server window and says:

***Connecting to irc.<insertserverhere>.net <insert port here>"

Immediately after that, I get the message:

***Error trying to connect to IRC server, aborting...Exception: could not open tunnel - failed

Has anyone run into this problem before? Anyone know what i'm doing wrong, or is it an intentional thing by Tmobile? If thats the case I'll have to set up some sort of http proxy for it I guess.

I'm using a 7290 on T-Mobile rather than a 7105t, though the configuration should be the same. When you go to Options/TCP (or Settings/TCP, depending on the theme), do you have "wap.voicestream.com" for the "APN" entry, and are "Username for APN" and "Password for APN" left blank? That configuration works for me, and I'm successfully using jmIrc.

That did the trick. I didn't have the wap.voicestream.com in there. Thanks David!
