Default app world question

Please Login to Remove!

I'm trying to download an app, and its frozen on "starting download", and that annoying icon on my desktop won't go away until it downloads...i tried un-installing and re-installing -- didn't work.

any help?

Nevermind - that icon was from an installed update. Still wondering if you can delete an app that says "starting download", since clearly it isn't?
