I'm getting ready to upgrade to a Blackberry (Curve I think) and I'm trying to find an app. that would help with my grocery shopping. I have a few severe allergies and unfortunately it isn't always to find the ingredients that are often hidden in a long list of the package (I need gluten-free and dairy free). I'm looking for an app that is basically a connection to a database that would allow me to search by product name and return with a yes of no on the presence of allergens. If there isn't one available I'd like to create one (I do some software development in my spare time) so if there are resources about the basic of designing the app I'd appreciate those as well.

i would take a look around the developers forum here. youll get a better idea of how to design in there good luck

Your best bet might be to find a website where you can look up that information and bookmark it in your BlackBerry browser. I've not seen an app for what you are asking for and I've browsed several sites for health related apps. You can check at our BlackBerryAPPS Store, link is near the upper left side of this page, and you can check at Handango.com
