Default Wall Street Journal Reader - 11-02-2009, 05:27 PM

Hi,

I'm using the WSJ reader, which includes a tab for My Reader. As I understand it, this should bring up my personalized content as defined on the main WSJ web site. If I am incorrect in this assumption, please correct me.

When I attempt to access this information, I get the following message: "User authentication failed at Commerce Server."

Does anybody have this feature operating? Has anybody else seen this message?

FYI I do have an incident report in with the Journal.

Thanks.

I know WSJ has started charging for content even with the reader, and even for WSJ online subscribers. There is a 90-day or something like that guest period, but I don't know if that applies to use of everyting with the reader or just access to the paid content. Anyway, I assume you are already registered and under the free trial period at least. My first guess then is that there is some sort of glitch. I'd send an email to the help address if you haven't already.

By the way, I have used the reader on and off and gave it a try again the other day. I deleted it when I found out WSJ is charging WSJ online subscribers extra to use the reader. And -- this pi**ses me off -- they still haven't totally fixed the profile problem. When you delete the app, all your profiles get set to default, and any custom profiles get deleted.

A couple of items:

I was told that if you had both the paper and an online subscription (my status) that there would not be a supplemental charge for the Mobile Reader. Do you have different information than that?

Email has been sent for tech support, and they have bumped it to the developer.

I think you are right, now that you mention it. No charge for reader if you subscribe to the paper and the online service. I just suscribe to WSJ Online.
