Default Anyone else having problems with Opera Mini 5? - 11-04-2009, 02:18 PM

I tried downloading Opera Mini 5 on my 9630, but I can't get it working. All I get is a blank screen with the Opera Mini tab bar across the top. The hyperlinks are still there (I can see when I scroll over them), but text and images aren't downloading.

Anyone else have this problem?

Wirelessly posted (Tmo's cheapest BB customer)

Might be a theme related issue. But you might want to try Opera 4.2 instead. 5 is still beta -- give them time to work the kinks out.

Nevermind. I found out my BB wasn't up-to-date. I let that run last night and now Opera 5 works great.

I completely failed to open a web page in Opera Mini 5 by typing it in the address bar.
The only way I found possible was through:
writting a web address in an SMS,
highlighting it,
clicking on it and
then selecting "Open in Opera Mini".

I have had a few 9630 devices running 4.7 and 5.0 and have always had an issue with OM Mini 5

Opera Mini 5 is still in beta. I use it on my 9530 on 5.0.0.328, and like it - within its limits.

One definite issue is the two editors: it can either use it's own "inline" editor or it can use the BB editor. I've lost track of which version has which problem, but with one editor, the backspace does an auto repeat, such that a single press will clear a field. Very annoying. One won't let you paste. Or you can't press enter to go to a page. Certainly a work in progress still.

It does, though, allow me to monitor and mod my vBul board much better than it did in 4.2 or the BB Browser does (with the notable exception of editing a post).

Decided to try using opera mini 5 beta on my bold. Love it.

Tabbed browsing and a speed dial menu? oh how sweet it that
