| | Applications in Speed Dial List?

I love the BB's speed dial feature. I wish that you could add shortcuts to applications or other commands in the speed dial menu. That way, I could hold down B to call Bob, and hold down R to run MobiPocket, and M to open the music player, and C to run my calendar, and P to call Peggy, and O to switch to the off profile.
RIM has a couple of actions in that list, like "Switch to Vibrate" and "Lock System." But, infuriatingly, they haven't allowed us to add similar commands. The switch to vibrate thing is especially annoying - I don't want my phone to vibrate when I turn off notifications - the whole point is that I don't want to draw attention to myself b/c someone's speaking.
Anyway, if there's a way to do this, please let me know. Two popular shortcut programs - Quicklaunch me and another one - are unsatisfactory. First, they require you to run a menu using the convenience keys, which aren't as easy to press. Second, they require you to press another key once you've launched them. With a speed dial application, you could press the "hang up" key whenever you want to return to the home screen, then hold down a key to do what you want. Would work brilliantly for me.
