IM Help - 2 day old Blackberry Hi, Just got my Blackberry(!) and need to set up some IM software to work with my Hotmail address on MSN. I'm not using a BES and have set up my emails through the online login. My Blackberry is through the Carphone Warehouse, 7230, data enabled and on o2. I ordered the IM+ from Handango and set it up as instructed. I also ensured my O2 wap and APN settings were as the instructions at the beginning of the thread. Also, the phone already has all the o2 IP settings built in and does work using the WAP, Secure WAP and internet browser. I also am demo'ing the verichat as suggested at the beginning of the IM thread, yet cannot get either to work. My issues are: IM+ - Service List>> *services aren't loaded* >> Registering... and I have tried unsuccessfully to register both the trial and the paid registration? Verichat - Connection timed out. Please can anyone help, I need it to work to keep intouch with my team whilst in Aus over the new year. Cheers, Phil |
I bought IM+ 6 months ago, and never was able to get it to work, I gave away the license a few weeks ago. Last month I successfully installed yak-on on my 7290 and now on my 8700 and I am a happy paying customer of their's. It currently only supports AIM and MSN. I would try them all for free before buying. Mitch |
phillyg1: I supporse you've downloaded WAP version of IM+. You should download and install Regular version and configure IM+ settings inside application. Try both HTTP and TCP modes and if it won't work, contact our support at Mitch: please send us the description of your problem and our support will help you too. Since your initial purchase of IM+ we have added a lot of new features and fixed some issues, so I hope you will be satisfied ths time. Happy holidays! |
hi Shape, I've emailed directly your support line and am waiting to hear. To confirm, I have downloaded both Wap and other version of IM+. I've got a bad feeling its to do with O2? In my wap settings I cannot see an http mode and only have the APN settings. Cheers, Phil |
Phil: HTTP and TCP modes you'll find in Regular IM+ version http://im.shapeservices.de/freedownl...BB_Regular.zip Hope this helps! |
Problem Solved Hi Shape, I spoke to O2 my Uk service provider - My Blackberry is locked to only allow Yahoo Messenger - I assume this is because of a deal with O2 and Yahoo/BT in the UK. Unfortunately, any 3rd party IM software won't work on it - Unless anyone knows otherwise? Phil |
Phil: 1. Try these settings. From the home screen of your BB, go to Options - TCP. O2 (UK) Gateway IP: 192.113.200.195 Port: 9201 APN: wap.o2.co.uk username: o2wap password: password 2. Select Save from the menu. 3. Reset your device by pressing the CTRL (Half moon) + CAP + Del keys at the same time 4. Load Regular version of IM+ 5. Choose HTTP or TCP modes in IM+ settings. Please also try to change port in settings from 443 to 30000, sometimes it can help to resolve the problem with conneciton. |

You will see multiple posts in this forum about my problems, I still believe my problems may have been cingular related, but at the same time Yak-On worked without any problems and IM+ never did, so I will let others draw their own conclusions. |
Mitch: I'm not going to advertise IM+ here saying it supports 6 IM services in one. I just ask you to give us a chance to help you configuring it. We have a lot of Cingular users that are quite happy with IM+.. |
I gave you that chance and you failed, I have moved on. For the record, I only wanted 1 IM, AOL IM, nothing more. |
Hi Shape, Under my TCP settings I only have the APN settings APN: wap.o2.co.uk username: o2wap password: password And no IP or port settings - somehow i have managed to find them whilst trying to get the software working and had already entered the settings as suggested. ? perplexed |
