Default IM+ Installing & Configuring Help!

Please Login to Remove!

hello everyone, i'm new to the whole blackberry world and i am having problems connecting successfully SHAPE'S IM + with my blackberry 8700c, i'm a cingular user (orange) and i downloaded the wap version (also tried the regular version) which one should i be downloading for the 8700c? I've read the pdf user's guide (and it looks like i should be downloading the "regular" version due to the OS, but then on the other hand it says, "even if your wireless carrier doesn't provide necessary connection for IM+, you still can use IM+ regular version with 3rd party BES/MDS Hosting services like MailStreet or MobileWeb4U" (uhhh i don't think i want to pay for this hosting so wtf?), it's like no matter what version you choose they seem to negate each other, so i want to make sure which one i'm suppose to be using.

To no avail i kept getting the "tunnel" problems like everybody else it seems or no successful connection, to tell you the truth i have no idea wtf i'm doing as this is all new to me and i feel like a deer in headlights somewhat, however i'm sure i'm doing something wrong here, i just don't know what exactly, i've selected the "trial" version on the blackberry screen and then it did the whole autoconfigure and that didn't work as it gave me the "successfull connection error" or whatever message, then there is the different connections of the http/tcp (have no idea which one i should be choosing nor what it is except for a connection) tried altering those and still didn't work...can anyone help here? can anyone give "clear and detailed" instructions on how to actually install this thing (prior setup and after setup configurations etc), rather than assume that everyone knows what the hell their doing with regards to configuration because i'm sure i'm not the only one who's lost here, thanks in advance for anyone who has the patience to help out (as you can tell i'm at the point of giving up lol) i'm use to my instant messengers already being on my devices, not having to configure shyt that turns into a nightmare, but again thanks in advance

Try Yak-on, I bought IM+ and owned it for about 5 months and could never get it to work, so I gave it away and got Yak-On to work without any problems.

antiant.. try contacting the shapes support. They are just soo awesome!
I had the same problem with my IM+ with my BB7520, though later on, I figured it out myself, the support team was there all through the way.

I don't know how your BB works, but I configured my own (BB 7520) using my Gateway IP found in my service book.

Good luck!

i don't really want to go that route unless all else fails (i'm not there yet, but i'm getting there lol), i'm hoping someone else may have some suggestions, but if that doesn't work out i will be contacting shape most likely and thanks for the input

antiant: you should download the Regular version of IM+. Before doing that be sure that TCP is configred correctly on your device. As you are a Cingular user, you have to
to call Cingular and ask for the "Data Connect" plan ($5/month Media plan) in addition to existing "BlackBerry Unlimited Data". I'm not sure about settings for Cingular+Orange, but Cingular users who were brought over from the AT&T merger
have to go to their TCP settings and put "proxy" in for the APN (username and password are left blank). Try this, it may help.
In the IM+ settings try both HTTP and TCP modes (use manual configuration rather than automatic). If it still won't connect, please contact our support at [email address]. We will do our best to help.

Mitch: drop a line to our support too, we will try to help you. Since your initial purchase we have added a lot of new features and fixed soe bugs. You'll surely be satisfied.
