Default Attention IRC Addicts: (JMIRC/etc) New version of JMIRC released, needs testing!

Please Login to Remove!

All Blackberry and/or IRC addicts:

You can get free, open source IRC for your Blackberry at jmIrc - Java mobile IRC-client (J2ME)

Juhovh, the writer of this program is back in business and has written modifications for Blackberry support.

A common problem with Blackberry JMIRC is disconnections from your IRC server, sometimes frequent. The problem lies in the fact Juhovh was not a Blackberry user, and may not still be, and needs our feedback to improve the program.

With the recent beta release, there has been implementations to support BES/BIS and Wifi on Blackberries.

Please test the app and send all correspondence to Juhovh at juhovh [ no spam ] users.sourceforge.net

Post your success stories here in case we can find a version that no longer has disconnect issues on BIS/BES.

Juhovh would also appreciate donations from persons so inclined, should you find yourself a JMIRC addict. He rewrote JMIRC from the WLIRC codebase entirely and continues to be the leading IRC app on a BB, definately worth our support.

Thanks!

- Headtailgrep, first Blackberry user of JMIRC

Update: Tested on a 7290 with 4.1.x, error message
"Error starting JMIRC: Module "jmIrc" has verification error 2778 at offset 0e62"

To rectify this, I went back to JMIRC 0.95 and on BIS it works flawlessly, no disconnection issues.

Also tested on a Bold 9000 with 5.0.0.554, installed OK, but in JMIRC I chose in advanced

a) Blackberry

Failed to connect (invalid URL parameter)

b) Changed APN to Rogers internet.com (with l&p) and it works.

But it seems to disconnect. Darn.
