Exclamation Problem with sending email to groups

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there. Virgin poster here so be gentle I've found this forum a wealth of knowledge over the past few weeks but now I have an issue I haven't found anywhere else!

Here's the story. I have set up various groups in my Address Book but when I send an email to any of them, it only sends the email to the first person in the group i.e. the name which appears at the top of the group list. Anyone else ever had this problem?

My setup:
  • BlackBerry 8120 Pearl, unlocked
  • No BES/BIS
  • TPG (Optus) network in Australia - data included in cap

Third party software:
  • Opera Mini browser
  • Shangmail email client
  • Mobiola xPlayer
  • Google Maps
  • Beejive IM

I'm honestly not sure if it's a problem with Shangmail or with the device itself. In every other respect, this free app is fabulous and completely negates the need for an expensive BB data plan.

Over to you...

UPDATE: I contacted Shangmail email tech support and like other users, found their service fast, friendly and professional. It seems that multiple recipients are not allowed through the Chinese firewall. Seems like a plausible explanation. Anyone else have knowledge of this?

I don't have an answer, but I'm just curious. ... If what you were told (reference post #2) is true, then it wouldn't make any difference if you manually entered the addresses instead of using the group that you created, right? And, assuming what you were told is true, would there be some limit on the number of recipients? What if you were cc'ing the 10 (or whatever number) other people on your team?

Hi Ira. You're right, it makes no difference whether you add the addresses manually or use a group. I've also tried various combinations of Cc an Bcc to no avail. A partial solution was to set up a Google Group which enables me to contact a pre-created mailing list with a single email. Obviously the limitation is that the list is static and essentially single-purpose.

Sorry to hear you are in such a spot. As I say, I don't have any specific knowledge, but is has the ring of truth as an effort to impede samizdat distribution. But just guessing.
