I downloaded it and I don't really notice any major difference between 4.2 and 4.4.

Do you mean "My Location"? I don't see any "My Places".

If so, I've been using "My Location" since about 4.2 and I like it. I don't mind the "Google Big Brother" aspect of it and I only allow some people to know where I am.

Enabling My Location slows it down seems to me. I rarely use it.

I'm still using v.2.3.2 with my 8330. When I used v.3+, it crawled to a stall! The 8330 needs more RAM and a faster processor. Anyway, I think as Google continues to bloat up the software, we'll eventually need a 12-core 3GHz smartphone to run it!
