Default Simprit Question

Please Login to Remove!

I recently changed companies, and our BES configuration does not include an Application installer. I installed MiniSafe OTA, and installed the desktop program. I have data loaded into the desktop program, but can't get it to syncronize with my device. Anyone know a way around this? I'm sure I can open a ticket to get some help installing it, but I presume this forum will be faster.

You have to install the Desktop Manager to your computer to sync the data from the desktop application to the BB application. I have both the MiniSafe and MiniExcel applications installed, use Desktop Manager and on BES and have never had any problems.

Wirelessly posted (Thumpers 7250: BlackBerry7250/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Are you talking about Blackberry Desktop Manager? I have that installed, but the version my company gave me does not have an application install / sync section. If you mean the Simprit Desktop program, have that installed too. Is there any reason why I can't install the regular Desktop Manager (not the company provided) using the appropriate settings, or will the BES lock down the application piece?

I am not on a BES but from what i understand of it, i would seem that they have control since they can disable the ability to install 3rd party apps, and since you can do that both OTA and via desktop it would seem that they would be able to control it. For all you know you may not be able to install 3rd party apps in your pC to begin with.

Default Installation Impact

If you can't install it, then I am not sure you can sync. The Desktop Manager has something called Add-ins which enable third party apps to be part of the sync process. If you can't get the install to work on your desktop you won't get the Add-in, and won't be able to sync. If that is disabled in your DM this won't work.

bulldoggy - Are you able to replicate cell formats from your PC worksheet in MiniExcel? I'd be interested to learn about your experiences using MiniExcel and specifically if you synch with Excel on a PC and how that is going for you.
