Default New IM Messenger Products for BB - Berryvine Messenger

There is a new kid on the block: "BerryVine Messenger." It's an IM client program that works for MSM only as far as I can tell. I downloaded it from Handango for a 15 day trial.

I have no connection with this product whatsoever - just a heads up! :D

What is Verichat pissing you off about -- is it the "disconnect" issue?

I am currently helping them improve the reliability of future versions of Verichat. All instant messengers have various reliability issues on the wireless network (WebMessenger, IM+, BlackChat).

Yep. There has been a lot of improvements to Verichat. Version 1.48b works a lot more reliably than it used to.

I am currently beta testing a Verichat feature that allows easy multitasking between multiple chat conversations (cycle through chat windows using a hotkey). Also trying to help PDAapps to get the connections to be more stable, as well.

Overall, it's finally at least as reliable as WebMessenger (build 0811)

$35 for an application that only does MSN Messenger? That had better be one really good application...

Oh great... with compliments of T-mobile, this application doesn't work on my 7230 :(

I've really gotta signup for a BES/MDS service again :(

yeah the logging issue is just too much of a problem for me. it seems like an hour is the most you can get out of it before you have to do a reboot. Just doens't seem worth a one time fee.. let alone an annual fee. i'm trying webmessinger right now.. seems more stable but not nearly as nice an interface as the verichat. 2 of my co workers are also very pissed off about paying for the full version because of the logging issue and also because they can't get their versions out of the trial mode even though they keep putting in the code. Another problem that seems to be worse with verichat is the "user in data" error that people keep getting when i'm using it. no one has complained since i switched to webmessinger but again its only been about a day and 1/2

Just FYI...The reasons why Verichat and WebMessenger Needs You To Pay For Server Service Annually:
  • Staying connected through dynamic IP address changes
  • Lower bandwidth protocols (lightweight proprietary IM protocol)
  • Lower battery power (less transmissons)
  • Surviving intermittent reception without confusing the real servers
  • In theory, reduce timeout problems

I am currently beta testing a newer version of Verichat, and helping them debug the Verichat connection-reliability issues that exists in some versions of Verichat. So eventually, Verichat could be much better than WebMessenger. Time will tell...

i understand why the annual fee. and its not even that much money. the software just seems too beta right now. anyway i left webmessinger on over night and its still logged in. never was able to do that with VC. like i said.. verichat's interface is much better but its more important to me that it stays on.

just out of curiosity.. does anyone know about how often Nextel IP address change? the rep said it doesn't happen that much when i called but i couldn't tell me daily/weekly/monthly

It isn't formatted for the 7100 series screens either.

roofus, how is it, and do you have any thoughts in comparison to the other IM apps you've tried?

I fired it up and not one single solitary buddy of mine is online. I can't tell how good it is until one of these people shows up - then I let you know. Usually the're pestering me all day long!

your nextel ip will generally stay the same, as it is specific to your subscriber data (ptn, sim id, etc). It may change in April however with the roll-out of the WiDEN upgrades....stay tuned.
