how about just browsing the NY subway website, not sure what their map would look like on an 8700

Secondly, could you send yourself an email with a PDF file attached of the map and just save it to be viewed later?

You can do full size GIF / TIFF / JPG / PNG on BlackBerry nowadays, without size reduction, you just have to do this:

1. Go to http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/submap.htm using BlackBerry Browser
2. Click Trackwheel, select "Select Mode"
3. Select the reduced-size map image in BlackBerry Browser.
4. Click Trackwheel
5. Select "Full Image" Menu Item (this downloads the entire file, not a reduced resolution version)
6. Click Trackwheel, Save to your Pictures Album
7. You can view the map at full lossless resolution in Pictures Album, with horizontal/vertical scrolling.

Once this is done, the New York Subway Map is almost like a horizontally/vertically scrollable "Google Map" inside your BlackBerry Pictures Album. (You may have to select "Zoom 1:1" when you start viewing the subway map in Pictures Album.)

The NYC subway map is two big GIF images, so you will have to save both images.

Thanks,
Mark Rejhon

Alternate instructions, which may be slightly easier.

1. Enter http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/sub1a.gif in BlackBerry Browser
2. Click Trackwheel, select "Full Image" to download
3. Click Trackwheel, select "Save" to save to Pictures Album
4. Enter http://www.mta.nyc.ny.us/nyct/maps/sub2a.gif in BlackBerry Browser
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3

Now both map graphics are in your BlackBerry Pictures Album.

Thanks,
Mark Rejhon

When I try an ota download I get 907 Invalid COD? It doesn't matter which browser I use. Tired it on a 7130e and an 8700r.

The latest version of Google Maps on the BB shows the subway stops. I wish I could have it a one level higher zoom for the stop on one level higher zoom for the trains at each stop.

There is Tube2 from Visual IT Mobile Solutions, Windows Mobile Pocket PC, Palm, Blackberry, Symbian & Smartphone Software. I have it and find it is worth $10, but that is really being generous. The only feature I find useful is it is one big scrollable map, you can't zoom but if you know your way around NYC or whatever city you purchase, it is better than nothing. The good news, they are coming out with Tube2 Geo which looks like the subway map + higher quality street map + gps and this looks like a terrific solution. They have it, just not for the BB yet.

I haven't tried Mark's solution.

You would think cities would be pushing solutions to use transit by having applications for buses and trains (with schedules) for mobile devices.

Regards-Michael G.

Hey guys a i made a rather larger picture of the 2 subway maps and integrated in to one picture so when you zoom 1:1 its very readable.

Try this - MetrO

Metro provides subway maps including assistance for planing routes from station A to station B for practically every city in the world (provided there is a subway/train/tram service there ofcourse). and Its FREE. They don't have a full blackberry version yet (there is an announcement on the site saying it is coming soon) but in the meanwhile there is a "lite" version that pulls data from their website ie requires active internet connection to work. I have used it on my various Palm or Symbian devices for years - it is wonderful

I'm using VisualIT's London tube map on my 8700g - it works fine.

Anyone know where I can get a London A-Z streetmap? Been after this for ages.

Thanks,
aston
