Default Verichat 2.63b - Unable to open connection - 02-01-2006, 12:45 PM

So I decided to download the newest version of Verichat OTA today - 2.63b and it went smoothly. Replaced my currently 2.47b version and everything came up fine after the reboot including my existing license, etc.

Anyway, since I installed it though whenever I try logging in I see the network activity and then "unable to open connection". At first I thought it was a TCP/IP issue but I don't believe so since Google Local (which I assume uses the same thing) works fine - also the network activity in Verichat goes for about 3-4 seconds, longer than when it has been a TCP/IP issue.

It may just be that the Verichat servers are down - anybody else having this issue?

On a related note, I'm downloading WebMessenger's Mobile IM because their new version supposedly uses the "Blackberry E-Mail" data rather than a carrier's APN which means it will be included in your unlimited BB plan. Should be interesting.

Let me know if anyone else is having a problem with Verichat though.

Yeah - looks like they're back up now. At least I know what that error message means, never seen it before so had no idea what the issue was.

BTW, tried WebMessenger for a bit - total piece of a$$....very dissapointed. Oh well, that's why I have Verichat!

Mine is not connecting to MSN, which is basically what I use it for. :(

Take that back looks like they're still having issues - I keep getting booted from Yahoo and AIM ---now it's giving me an unknown error with my AIM account.

Guess just have to let it be for a while...

Yeah, it was doing that to me earlier. I kept noticing constant data activity (you know how Nextel is with static coming through speakers) and happen to look at it and realized it kept logging me in and out. I hope they get the issue resolved. I wonder if anyone has notified PDAapps about the problem?

I sent an email just to see what they say may be the problem and to inform them if they didn't know (which I doubt)

It's been up and stable now for over an hour for me. Hopefully you're seeing the same thing.

Hi

My name is Patrick Simmons and I was checking to see if you guys are having problems with Verichat because mine is steadily logging in and out? I am using Verichat 2.63b on a Blackberry 7520.

Thanks in advance

Just out of curiousity, I have tried several different programs for IM and what was it about webmessenger that you found was bad? I would like to know other peoples findings? I am torn between verichat and webmessenger.

Logging in to multiple screen names on AIM is what I found that WebMessenger could not do but Verichat could.

Don't know why anyone wouldnt like webmessenger, the interface might not be as polished, but in terms of functionality messages take 5-10 seconds longer compared to instant on verichat, verichat NEVER stores messages, constantly logs off, people get system connectivity error messages when IMing you, and overall webmessenger saves messages and delivers them to you as soon as you have service just like an email or PIN message...

Who is your service provider?

Are you own BIS or BES?

Didn't answer if you're on BIS or BES?

If you're on BES....

Choose the option for MDS.

If you're on BIS.....

Are your TCP settings configured properly?

See this post.....
