If anyone wants a newer version, or an Over-The-Air download, this link was posted on HowardForums:
Version 1.91 Over-The-Air:
http://www.pdaapps.com/ota/VeriChat.jad
(330 kilobytes over the air!)
You must uninstall 1.78b before installing 1.91 though, otherwise you get an Error 907. OTA versions are not compatible with Application Loader versions.
Same activation code will work. If you decide to downgrade, make sure to uninstall via Options->Applications before reinstalling 1.78.

Lately I have a lot of problems connecting to more than one service (if I can connect at all) but I am unsure whether it is a VeriChat thing or a T-Mobile issue.

I have the newer version so if it is a software issue with VeriChat it affects version 1.91.

I got it installed and running great last night. I see people posting saying that their carrier charges them for this.
does t-mobile with the 1000 minutes unlimited SMS/e-mail/web blackberry plan?

That varies by carrier to carrier.
T-Mobile never charges for Verichat if you are on the Unlimited plan.
It doesn't use minutes or SMS. It uses data, and your T-Mobile plan is unlimited with no caps.
The newest versions of Verichat uses less bandwidth. The next version will use even less bandwidth, since it's going to go all over a single socket and the keepalive code only needs to operate on one socket.
By the time the single-socket version is released, it should be safe to even run under Rogers with its 25-megabyte cap on its so-called "Unlimited" plan.

You need to type " http://www.pdaapps.com/ota/VeriChat.jad" on your BlackBerry to wirelessly download it to your BlackBerry.
There's no OTA page on VeriChat's site yet. So you have to type the full address on your BlackBerry. Version 1.91 is only available as a wireless OTA download.
As of February 25th, you can get 1.78 as a BlackBerry Desktop install, or a version 1.91 as a wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) install. It's usually easier to post an OTA file, and this is considered a beta release, however many people find it more stable than Version 1.78 so that's why many people prefer the OTA download at the moment.

I get the error "Failed to transmit" when trying to log in
I have a 7320 on Tmobile with no-BES/MDS running Verichat 1.91. I see GPRS, signal is strong, T-zones works great. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Will verichat support aim's new "multiple screen name" login? I currently login with 4 screen names on my desktop pc at the same time using this feature. (Most I would need on my bb is 2)
Also, can you turn off those popup alerts so that it doesnt popup every single time someone sends you a response while its in the background? Or atleast (probably better) only alert on the first new response, and hold off all other subsequent responses, until you re-enter that IM chat session. This would be specific to each indivudal chat session.
It gets dispruptive if your in another application and someone is typing away in the Chat, you get flooded with popup alerts, and have to chose no every single time.
Perhaps a different style of alert would help as well. (maybe one similar to the normal bb email/call/voicemail alerts, just tone is heard and the little number icon counter increases for each mesage
All this would be best set as user preferences.

You can do it all in the Profiles of your BlackBerry, hi-tech.
VeriChat rightly puts all notifications for the application in the standard BlackBerry Profiles application so you can have different settings for different profiles!

The least disruptive way of doing things for me, is to enable Jump-Immedately-To-Chat:
Verichat->Preferences->"Jump Immediately To Chat"->Yes
That way, if I don't want to chat to the person, I just hit the Esc button two times and I'm back to where I was. Easier than clicking "No" in the popup.
I have already sent a suggestion about disabling the popups, a silent notification mode, for those people interested in that feature.

Yea, their is no option to disable the actual "popup" in the Profiles, just the audile notication.
However Marks suggestion does work the least distruptive although not a fix thanks Mark!

How long can you go without reception before verichat disconnects the aim session?

On the server end, approximately 10 minutes if no incoming messages occur. However, if someone is chatting to you, their messages will start bouncing back to them in about 1 minute. (All messages are queued for 1 minute, so you get all of them if you're out of reception for less than 1 minute.)
Your client will simply automatically reconnect when you come back into reception. So you can be out of reception for 24 hours, and AIM will automatically reconnect when you come back.

The Handango version has AIM and ICQ removed because of a Handango agreement with AOL.
Uninstall VeriChat and install VeriChat directly from PDAapps' website. The latest version is a wireless OTA download (Enter via BlackBerry Browser): http://www.pdaapps.com/ota/VeriChat.jad .... But make sure you uninstall your old Verichat first! Your free trial will resume where it left off...

Version 1.93b BlackBerry Desktop Installer for VeriChat has been released on the main VeriChat website:
http://www.pdaapps.com/verichat_bby/...file_real.html
This is identical to the wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) download which is at:
http://www.pdaapps.com/ota/VeriChat.jad
So now you have a choice of installing wirelessly, and installing through BlackBerry Desktop!

Ughh! I am getting the dreaded "could not open tunnel - failed" error! I have the 7100g with Cingular.
This is what I did:
1) before installing VeriChat, I went to options/TCP and used these settings:
APN: wap.cingular
APN username: ![[email address]](http://www.blackberryforums.com/?emailimage=926ba5063332a843f899526b95997cb8)
APN password: CINGULAR1
2) Installed VeriChat OTA
3) pulled the battery for a couple minutes, i.e. Hard Reset.
I'm getting the error. I even tried retyping the TCP settings again and doing another hard reset just in case I made a typo, but no luck. Any ideas? My HTML browser is working fine as is my email.

The only explanation for some people using isp and some people using wap is that their accounts must be provisioned differently. I am on hold now with Cingular Blackberry Support. I'm going to have them fix my account.

They refused to help. They even went as far as to say that if I put those TCP settings that I could perhaps even be billed extra for that use since Cingular does not support it.
I like this device, but if I cannot get it to work with wap.cingular then I am going to have to return it and get a regular non-blackberry smartphone. The blackberry plan already costs $20/month more than a Treo 650 would. I'm not going to pay another $10/month on top of that.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to get it to work?

I am new to BB, and have Cingular 7100g for myself and business partner. I followed all of the above, and verichat worked when I tested it between the two units in my office, but once I tried it outside when I was on the road, the messages did not come through on either end. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else experienced this?

Is anyone else out there having this problem?
I am logged into 3 mediums with Verichat 1.96b on my T-Mobile 7100t and after completing a phone call, I go back into Verichat to see that my medium status icons show offline. Login doesn't do anything. Logout doesn't do anything. Only Logout and Exit then restarting the app seems to bring my connections back to life.
So in short. After receiving a phone call..Verichat doesn't seem to reconnect.

All of my other chat programs work fine except yahoo. It says that a typo error or something is wrong. I tried the un and pw several different times. I know that I typed everything right. I'm using the Nextel Blackberry 7250, anyone else having this problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Verichat not working with Cingular (former AT&T) -
05-05-2005, 08:22 PM
I haven't been able to get Verichat 1.96b to work on my BB 7290. I'm on Cingular, but with a rolled-over AT&T account. I've installed and configured Verichat, but it stops on a screen that just shows the four IM icons spread out across the top, the services listed with checkboxes, and "bby05.verichat.com" at the bottom. I don't seem to be logged in. When I select "Login," I just come back to this same screen. I never get any error messages, but I also never connect to the messenger services....
I've spoken to Cingular reps, and have been told that the Cingular APN will NOT work for former AT&T accounts. I've also been told that the WIX data plans do not apply to former AT&T. Can anyone confirm this?
Other web functions seem to work fine. My BB connects through a corporate BES, which may be restricting access to VeriChat, so this may be the problem. I was hoping to use an APN to go around that.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!

I called Cingular, and got a rep who specializes in Blackberry's AND former AT&T accounts. He went onto the pdaapps website, downloaded Verichat, and got it to work on his own Blackberry. His account is the same as mine, with none of those extra WIX lines, and only "proxy" for APN on the BB. So at least I know it's possible. The only difference is I've got a BES that may have some kind of security restrictions.
