Default How is support/development from makers of IM+?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm currently trying to decide between IM+ and Verichat.

I like some of the features of Verichat better, but I like IM+'s price and the fact that it works with Google Talk as well.

One thing that affects my decision on apps like this is the level of support and development from the software makers. I prefer apps that are continually improved with new tweaks/enhancements, and developers who listen to their users and address issues or entertain suggestions.

Anyone know how the makers of IM+ fare in this manner? And for that matter, PDAApps (Verichat)?

Thanks in advance...

Default I have had good interactions with them

They are a German/Russian company and I have good support but the person is in Russia. I have been suggesting some changes and they are working on them. See my tips page on IM+ clients. I think both are good. The bots on Verichat are cool. I want IM+ to add some shortcuts and custom status messages.

That's great that they've responded - good to know. And yes, shortcuts could be improved. With IM+, I like seeing my GTalk contacts. And I certainly like the non-recurring fee. So they are the leader. As soon as I get my TMO 8700, I'll make the final call.

Thanks for your insight!

Big fan of IM+ always have been, but they do need to integrate there alerts with the profiles. Would definately make them the leader overall.

Here as well, I don't do a tone of IM but the times I do IM+ is great! As others have mentioned some tweaking would be nice but still a great app.

Post your tweaking here and I will get them the message!

When they first realeased 3.2.1 it would not run on .194 Cingular OS for the 8700. They compiled and sent me a special log version and we were troubleshooting until I did the .284 upgrade and all is well.

Just a few questions, and potential feature enhancements if you think they are valid:

1. They have smileys loaded in and you can click on them to add to your message. But it just inserts the text version in the message line for you. Not really a time saver...I know a wink is ;) and a smile is and can learn the others. Since they already have these loaded in our blackberry, can't they find a way to display the smiley in our chats when either we or our chat-buddy uses the right symbols, just like normal IM clients? When my friend types ;) I would like to see the wink face show up. (Of course, this is just an icing-on-the-cake thing - if it were to slow things own, I'd much rather have quicker-resonding chatting...)

2. As mentioned above, it would be nice if the alerts could change according to the profile used on the phone. If I set the profile to all vibrate, I'd like it to set automatically set the chat client to vibrate alerts. (or not...but give us the choice). But muting my phone for meetings is used a lot, and it would be nice if I knew the chat messages wouldn't alert. Of course, I haven't tested the alert features very much yet, so I could be missing something.

I'd love to hear others' requests/suggestions.
