I installed PSI on a friend's PC last night and set up GT on his BlackBerry. I did not need the rar file at all.

Odd, because I'm getting "Jabber Connection Error"; "The connection requires an OpenSSL library, which is not installed."

Hmm.

I just installed Gtalk yesterday. I was getting the same error. What i did wrong was that i saved the rar file in the Miranda directory WITHOUT unzipping it there first. Once I unzipped the rar file into the directory, things worked.

A question I have is if we can get rid of the "Unsubscribed" group that shows up on the BB google talk. If so, how?

Are you using GROUP?

In GoogleTalk for BlackBerry ->Options -> Show Offline Friends (Yes/No/Group)

Select Group, then minimize any category.

Ok, I'm lost...

I tried following the first post... everything seemed to go ok, using msn.jabber.anywise.com My MSN contacts show up in Miranda's list, but within a few seconds of switching MSN to "Online" I get... an message from msn.jabber.anywise.com saying...
Quote:
Your MSN account has been logged in elsewhere. Please logout at the other location and then reactivate the MSN transport.
When in Miranda, I go "Crown" -> Jabber -> Agents... there are NONE listed in the register jabber transports box..

When I add it, that box stays empty...

While MSN, Yahoo, AIM accounts all show up in Miranda's list, they never show in Google talk on either my laptop or my blackberry...

So I switched to PSI.. following... http://www.bigblueball.com/forums/go...msn-yahoo.html did Service Discovery.. put in jabber.anywise.com, right click the MSN listing, register.. it asks me for User ID and password of my MSN Passport account.. so I use my MSN Messnger ID/pwd.... and click the register button... I get registration successful pop-up... and close the windows down to get back to the "buddy list"... BUT none of my MSN contacts show up... I see my Google Talk people only... that web link said it would go out and pull them in...

What am I doing wrong??

Also, a lot of the servers listed in this thread.. I can't "register" ?? Like trying to use the Yahoo from jabber.anywise.com I can't register, but I can on the AIM/ICQ

EDIT: in PSI... i selected SHOW TRANSPORT from the "buddy list" and the msn.jabber.anywise.com showed up... so I right clicked on it.. there was an option to Logon... It apparently does something, and I now see msn.jabber.anywise.com listed in GoogleTalk as being on-line... but no MSN Contacts...

Mark_Venture,

You probably already did this, but is your port settings okay?
Quote:

6. Enter 'talk.google.com' in the 'Host:' field and leave the 'Port:' field to '5223'

7. If you can't connect using port 5223, please try using port 443

Yes... but I didn't try 443, because it does appear to connect...

Oh, and a MSN contact IM'ed me... on the PC, I got notifiation of an "Event"... a request to "authorize" from PSI... I clicked OK..

after that.. she showed up in PSI, as well as Google talk..

EDIT: Ok, so I found the Auto-Authorise setting in PSI.. so that is checked...

Oops, duh.

Got the dll files unrar'd and installed, but now I'm having an impossible time finding an AIM transport that works.

This works really well, my MSN transport works well, but the AIM transport sometimes kicks me off... But it's the best I've found.

PSI works great used njs.netlab.cz in service discovery. After it was set up in GT i got 50 messages. I could not get miranda to work. I could not find a ssldll.rar. PIS was alot easier to me.

I noticed there was an upgrade to 1.0.9 - the only thing I can tell as of right now, it gives a graphic for smileys.

It doesn't do anything for me. Tried to upgrade from version 1.0.7 to 1.0.9 but now i have lost my Googletalk icon on my ribbon and tried to reinstall it but i cannot get Googletalk installed on my blackberry anymore.
Even tried to remove all entry's to Googletalk before installing it but that didn't help.

Tried to reinstall the OS but also no luck with that.

When i load it with my blackberry browser it claims it was installed successfully but i have no icon, only one servicebook for Googletalk and No settings in the profile screen.

Anyone got a clue what i am missing here?

I deleted GT from the applications list and then there are 2 in modules that I deleted. I did that before I tried installing the newer version and was fine.

This might be an odd question, but here goes...Is there any way where i can register two gmail accounts under jabber? meaning , if i log on to google talk on my bb it will fetch whichever yahoo/msn/aim accounts i've got tied up with that particular jabber acount? I just use a different yahoo/aim screenname for work, and personal use...If anyone knows this i'd appreciate it...I just don't want to mix my family contacs, with work contacts in my google talk, i think it'd be too confusing that way.
Thanks a lot

I setup Maranda on my desktop. I keep getting the followin message every few weeks:

11:28:05 AM: Your MSN account has been logged in elsewhere. Please logout at the other location and then reactivate the MSN transport.

I don't think I logged in anywhere else. Any clue?

Thanks

Exclamation Windows Jabber software - 08-09-2006, 06:19 PM

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a jabber server that I can run on my own Windows XP or server 2000 or 2003 box which will allow me NOT to use the public jabber servers, but will allow me to connect into AIM/MSN/Yahoo with Google Talk?

I am having lots of problems staying connected with MSN using anywise.com or netlab.cz so I figured I could do it myself and make it more reliable and resolve any problems myself.

Thanks.

Mark

im was very interested in google talk on my 8700 but it seems to me like it's not even worth the hastle. $25 per year for verichat is worth the ease.

Not when they sell out to Nokia and effectively stop supporting their flaky product.

I have not heard anything on selling out to Nokia. Can you please explain or post a link?

As far as support, I've used Verichat for almost 2 years and have not really had too many bumps. I used it on my Treo 650 which I think had a better interface than the BB one.

So far on my 8700g it's been pretty good as well. My license expired which is why I am looking into the GoogleTalk hack.

Is it the look of the interface that is the biggest draw to the GoogleTalk hack besides it being free?

Please let me know as I'm very curious now about this Nokia thing.

Thanks

I had a smooth first 6 months, and then had nothing but service problems, repeated errors, etc. I reinstalled, I wiped, I tried everything. I sent them error logs, I sent them emails, I heard back on a couple of the early ones saying they'd look into it, but I never could get another email from them again, including the time I asked for a one month extension to my contract due to the fact that they hadn't helped me at all to fix the problem.

On another note, I have a problem with Google Talk sometimes duplicating every incoming message - anyone else run into this?

Thank you for the link and for sharing. Sorry to hear about your troubles.

I will look into WM now since that link had so many good review.

I still find it hard to believe that GoogleTalk is so great when more than half of this thread is all about problems.

Thanks again

I think it's got a lot of potential because in many ways it's got the best UI design by far of any IM client for the BlackBerry, it's just that we're using it to do things it wasn't designed for (e.g., using it as an AIM client) and that's where it gets flaky. If all I used was Jabber I think I'd be perfectly happy with it.

Hopefully Google will take note and build multiprotocol functionality into it. (Wishful thinking.)

that's what i was waiting to here. i would imagine the UI being better than an other client. i'll prob give it a try and hope that they catch on to creating a client just for BB's.

thank you for your thoughts. very well put.

I hope it works out for you. I've had good luck lately with the deepdarc transport, and my doubling-up issue seems to be sorted out for the most part, so I hope it's pretty smooth for you (though I will say the initial setup was a bit of a hassle).

But keep Ramble installed for those times when GT breaks and you just need something that works. Also, make sure you check the GT preferences, because the 'Show Conversations in Message List' thing drove me nuts at first.

Thanks Spankypoo. I got your PM. I'll keep Ramble as a backup even though I really don't like it. But given the fact that GT is not fully stable, I guess it will be okay. I can't complain about freeware

Will PIN you with any questions. Thanks again

I got as far as the step where you login to gtalk on Miranda. I am getting a message that says "The connection requires an OpenSSL library, which is not installed." I extracted the dlls to the Program Files\Miranda IM directory. Do they need to be registered? I attempted to register them with regsvr32 with no luck.

Any ideas?

***EDIT*** Nevermind, it helps if you restart Miranda after extracting the dlls!!

I first tried to use msn.jabber.anywise.com with psi. It did not work at all. Now I am using another transport, but I keep getting the failed connection message from msn.jabber.anywise.com. I tried to "remove" it from my contact list, but it kept coming back.

Does anyone know how to permanently remove msn.jabber.anywise.com so I don't get their error messages?

Thank you for your help.

But, my question is how do I setup a profile? Right now my profile says "I am a PyAIM-t user with no profile set." I was wondering if I have to go through Miranda to do this or if setting a profile just isnt possible at this time.[/quote]

was this question ever answered?????
