Hello mankit99o,
When you use IM+ All-in-One that combines 6 IMs it doesn't require SMS service. IM+ is using your GPRS connection only and you have to pay for amount of information you are sending and receiving.
Hope it helps,
Irene

I received an email today announcing the updated IM programs from RIM. I have just tried Yahoo! Messenger and you can now send pictures and files through via IM! Wow!

Hi,
I am new here, have a 8820 with T-Mobile.
I have found JiveTalk to be great for IM and it was only $20.00!
Plus RIM nor T-Mobile can figure out why ICQ will not work on the 8820' Go figure.
Thanks Mark for all your research and hard work!

I have 2 questions. In google talk it is possible to "link" a contact to an address book entry. When I go to one of these entries in my address book I want to be able to click on the google talk email (gmail address) and then email them. However, the address book does not give you this option, just the option to IM them using google talk. Is there a setting I need to change to do this?
Also, has anyone heard of a facebook chat client? I haven't even heard of one for desktops, but I was just curious...

Hi my name is Elmira. Yes I do know what u r talking about. I'm not a Tmobile customer but I think that I can help u. Unlimited data plan want help you when it come down to txt mess or IM. Data plan is when u use data to get on the internet from your phone. What u need to do is. U need to get unlimited test mess. That way u want get charged for using oz messenger, sms, or mms messenger. When u call tmobile tell them that u want unlimited txt mess with mms txt mess that way u can mess anywhere for one low fee. Att charge $20 a month for unlimited txt mess. And I txt all the time. I txt in IM mess, sms and mms. I have unlimited data too so i can get online on my bb tosend email and other things. I hope this help.

I have the unlimited data plan from T-Mobile and have to pay for each SMS text message sent/received. So I started using Google Talk after the nighmare it was to get my bill after using OZ Messenger.
But just to make sure, I contacted T-Mobile through email to have them confirm that since Google Talk uses data to transmit messages, and because I have the unlimitted data plan, that I should not get any extra charges on my bill. So I just got their answer and they say that I will still get charged for ever message. I told them to double check everything because it makes not sense.
Is there anyone out there who's got the same set up as I do and has been using Google Talk without having to pay for every message?

The latest IM+ has a "push" feature. You can exit the program, it keeps you logged into your IM services, and you get an email when someone sends you an IM. The nice thing is no extra battery drain keeping an IM app running. Sort of similar to BeeJive IM for the iPhone.
I'm testing it out now. Will let you all know how well it works.

Just got Instango (get.instango.com) and it is fantastic. Completely free, slick interface, supports all connection types, and supports yahoo, google, msn, qq, icq, aim, gadugadu, and jabber. One touch online/offline. Oh and did I mention it's free? Great app. Best one out there.

Hi,
I just received my BB curve from t-mobile yesterday. There is something weird happening though. I used to have a Samsung SGH-T629 with no data or internet plan. I was able to log onto all of the Messagers (yahoo, msn, aim). I used to be charged from my SMS plan that i still have. Now on the BB whenever I try to logon it tells me that "Service not enabled for this handheld". What does this mean and why is this happening? And if possible, can someone please tell me how to enable them? I tried to search the forum but there is nothing about messangers that applied to my situation :(
Thank you.
P.S. It does let me log on to the BB messanger...which is equally strange to me
Thanks again for all your help!

I found Palringo to be one of the better ones on BB, on your BB browser type in Paxmodept it will detect your device and install, great for MSN, Yahoo, AIM and more. that is palringo.mobi heh this forum converts it to a link immediately.

Just thought I would chime in. Right now Palringo and Instango are the two best free multi-IM clients (afaik), and each has strengths and weaknesses. For those reading this thread and trying to decide between the two, let me do a quick rundown.
Palringo Pros: - Better interface
- Single sign-on (all your IM accounts are tied to your Palringo acct.)
- better support for multimedia im (sound/picture)
Palringo Cons: - No way to customize the alert, other than with or without a sound notification
- Higher battery drainage (your mileage may vary!)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instango Pros: - Themes
- battery usage optimization (your mileage may vary)
- Alerts for new messages, new messages while Instango is in foreground, and contact coming online, all through the Blackberry's default profile editor
Instango Cons: - Must select each IM account individually with the BB button and log in one at a time
- Slightly buggy picture message sending (no audio)
Hope that helps a bit.

Is there a way to authorized download of IM and still block user from installed other third party program? I look into the IT policy, the exclusive policy only for connectivity, but still need to have the IM software program which block by third party installation... any idea? Or script to by pass?
