Why isn't there more info on Causerie? I downloaded it and it seems to work great for the most part. But everybody seems to discuss IM+ or Verichat. Is there a flaw of some sort in Causerie that I'm missing?

I did notice that Causerie seems to limit the amount text you can input. I also ran into a problem where it wouldn't login to one Yahoo account if I set it to login to 2 different accounts.

sigh. It seems that Nokia/Intellisync/pdaapps is probably discontinuing Verichat. At least they've stopped selling it.

ratatosk,
Other messaging clients have over time, improved in quality, so it's probably time to use something else than Verichat now. Verichat was the very best for a long time though...

Thanks,

Yeah, I just saw this. Looks like I'm off to find another. I want to get something that does google talk too. :(

I configured GoogleTalk on my 8100 Pearl to work with my AIM & Yahoo, used Psi to do so...is there anyway to be "invisible" on either AIM or Yahoo or Both while logged on to GTalk on my BB?

I was using the trial version of VeriChat and when I wanted to buy it discovered it was no longer for sale.

I downloaded the trial of Causerie and have been using it, but it has crashed a number of times, so I am looking for an alternative. My .02 on them is that VeriChat was substantially better than Causerie.

Default Need loggable AIM client - 12-20-2006, 12:21 PM

Hey, I'm the BES Admin for a financial company, and one of our compliance rules is that all electronic communication must be logged. I am wondering if anyone knows of an AIM or Yahoo! client that can be logged. SMS Messages can be logged, but are slow, and don't work with every device. BlackBerry Messenger is good, but it can't communicate with AIM or Yahoo. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Handango did not allow PDAapps to post a version that had all 4 networks, because of some kind of deal they have with AOL.

Please note, if you last installed Verichat via BlackBerry Desktop, you must uninstall that version before you download Over-The-Air. Yes, your same registration code will work.
I'm trying to uninstall it from my BB and i keep getting a stacker error.
Any ideas on how I can uninstall it. I installed it via OTA so there isn't anything in the desktop manager.

I would try ramble,im+,or some of the other instant messenging apps listed under 3rd party software. There are trial periods, so you can see what works best for you.

I found that Ramble, which is free, didn't work that great. Some say differently. IM+ (Handango - Windows Mobile, Palm OS, BlackBerry and Symbian Smartphone Software Downloads) seems to be the most popular, as well as Verichat (www.pdaapps.com). Take a look at the various messengers and definitely take advantage of the trial before buying. Yes, AOL instant messenger is part of these messengers.

Hope this helps.

May also want to take a look at WebMessenger. For me seems "next best" to the now defunct Verichat.

Default free AIM and Yahoo client (not via SMS) - 01-09-2007, 08:14 PM

So is there a free AIM and/or Yahoo IM client that does not go over SMS?

I have T-Mobile and their included IM client charges me $0.10/IM message since I don't have an SMS plan with them. However, I use Google Talk for free via the BWC.

Is there a free (no monthly fees or one-time fees) AIM and/or Yahoo client?
Thanks. Please provide the links.

NOTE: I only use the IM client on my BlackBerry in rare occassions, so a simple text client is fine. Thanks in advance.

There are options listed in the very first post of this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...ahoo-chat.html

Google Talk can be configured for Yahoo or AIM. There is also the BlackBerry Yahoo Messenger client available from RIM.

Ramble instant messenger is free for aim and you can google it to get their website and they'll send you the link.

Yahoo is located at www.BlackBerry.com/yahoodownload

You can also find these and other apps if you do a search under third party applications or software.

I downloaded the Yahoo IM from blackberry. Under the sound profiles there is a "Yahoo Messenger Alert" and a "Yahoo Messenger New Message" in addition to the phone, calendar, SMS text, etc. Can someone tell me what the "Yahoo Messenger Alert" does? It seems the "New Message" is the only one that works and it work everytime a get some text from the person- not just the first time, but throughout the whole conversation. So it keeps "beeping" over and over during the conversation. Can anybody who uses the Yahoo IM give me some pointers?

What IM application does everyone here recommend? I downloaded Yaho but it doesn't work on my Pearl. It says I must visit a link to activate it, but that is just going in circles.

I need something that just works for Yahoo.

Thanks,
JE

I recommend JiveTalk, in beta now. See this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...plication.html

JiveTalk is the best among all even though it is still a beta version.

No one should have to pay a monthly fee for IM if you ask me. A one time fee maybe but there are so many free alternatives that work well.

I agree and that's another thing I like about WebMessenger. Which "free" alternatives did you find that work as well as WebMessenger?

Hey guys... I just barely bought my Blackberry and I'm pretty excited about it This forum looks like a great resource, so that's exciting as well. Moving on...

I have a Mac and use iChat usually. I was checking out the different chat clients, and while Ramble is free and works for AIM (which is all I need), it seems that it won't work with iChat users. I can also sign in using the AIM application, so that doesn't bother me, but many of my friends use iChat and the Ramble FAQ seems to imply that I won't be able to chat with those people using Ramble. So! What are my other options? I worry now that maybe some of these other recommended programs have the same problem. I don't mind paying a reasonable fee; I just want something that will work well and won't make it impossible to chat with my iChat using friends.

If it matters, I have a black Pearl 8100. It's not here yet. And I don't have the Enterprise network. I do have unlimited data and text though.

Thanks in advance!
