although skype is not very robust in the way of chatting it is great for international travelers. The majority of my "buddies" are through Skype and trying to get them to get another IM account is difficult at best.
If someone does happen to take this on, Thank you in advance!
The only thing I'm aware of that makes life a little easier is something called Skyllian. It's a gateway of sorts between skype and trillian which can be found at www .trillian.cc. You still need to run Skype but it's works out great for me since I used to use multiple IM clients and now it's done to one (plus skype minimized).
that thread only talks about voice over ip phone calls...
I like many here are interested in a SKYPE CHAT CLIENT that
runs on our blackberrys.
they have a "pass thru" method available today but for me
(and many others) its not viable since it requires you to leave
your PC powered ON & it uses text messaging to forward the
chat...its just not a solution for folks that travel or are "in the
field" working alot.
IM+ shapeservices has a beta skype software client for trial or purchase on there site. they claim that no desktop client is needed nor obviously is there a need to leave your computer on to use it.
go to shapeservices.com to download the beta trial
I downloaded it but keep getting a "bad connect" error when i attempt to log in on my 8700c and use it. I sent shape services an email about the error but havent heard back yet (there in europe).
Anyone had any luck? If what they say is true and no desktop second part client is needed this could very well be the breakthrough skype client that a lot of us have been waiting for...
