Call For BlackBerry Developers

The great news for developers is that BlackBerryOS 4.0 contains a lot more API`s that makes the BlackBerry more customizable. There are many software programs we still need for BlackBerry, to make BlackBerry more useful to some people, including the following:

Needed BlackBerry software utilities:
  • Custom Caller-ID Ringtones on incoming callers.
  • Automatically display incoming messages even when outside holster, if BlackBerry has been idling for more than 1 minute.
  • Flash the backlight upon Calendar reminder or High-Priority Email
  • Copy-And-Paste Entire Address feature (paste the full address information of one person as plaintext rather than a vCard)
  • Make the button on your Bluetooth headset do something if you're not on a call. Such as automatically dialing your voicemailbox or Cingular's voice dial service.
  • Etc. Use your Imagination!
Please visit the BlackBerry Developers Forum area if you are a Java programmer who wants to get started writing software for BlackBerry, or if you are an established programmer who wasn`t aware of the extra power of the BlackBerry SDK 4.0.

Thanks,
Mark Rejhon

Default request for software - 03-02-2005, 12:48 AM

Hi Mark,

I would like to add that I would like to see some kind of 'relational database' program. I switched over to BB from Palm OS and initially used 'TinyBite' which was bought out by the Documents To Go people and rebranded it a 'Smart List To Go'. I still carry around my old PDA because of the information that I have on that program but I would love to be able to just carry the BB if it had some kind of database available.

just my $0.02

Dave

FWIW, the links in the OP are wonky after the update.

Hello

How do you change the location of the weather in BBToday? I know where to find it, but what are the codes or scrpit needed to correctly get your home town?

In case anyone is wondering, these programs do work on the Nextel 7520 Blackberry and I love the BBToday. I highly recommend it to everyone!! It took me a minute to figure out I needed to add my zip code to get my local weather, but it is not difficult to figure out.

Go to Weather.com, get the forecast for your hometown and look at the URL. You will see an 8 character Alphanumeric code in the URL (e.g. http://www.weather.com/outlook/trave...om=search_city is what I get when I look for Calgary, AB the CAXX0054 is the locator code).

I would still love to see an add in or something that adds a snooze button to calendar reminders like outlook uses. I know I can open it and change the reminder time but thats a lot of keystrokes. A single button click that defaults to a 5 or 10 minute snooze would be perfect.

I'll keep wishing for it.

Cool Looking for a Free RSS Feedreader for BlackBerry - 04-11-2005, 10:21 AM

Anyone have any suggestions??

I have found several rss feedreaders but they are either too expensive or don't allow you to customize. I want to be able to add my own groups or categories.

Suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

ITXX0054 (Padua the city of the saint - Italy) doesn't get the condition.
It says "Error: Expecting an element".

I'm under a proxy-firewall that need autentication (Cisco Secure)

I added one city using a zip and one using the location code. Both worked fine. I got the location code using the link provided in one of the text files included. I have it running on a 7250 w/ version 4.0.

Default Help with BB Today - 05-09-2005, 04:03 PM

I'm new to Blackberry as of last Friday, and so far, have been quite surprised by how much I'm enjoying it! Had a Treo 600 that I liked, but had sooooo many problems with it that Verizon gave me another PDA phone (samsung i700). I really didn't like the windows-based PDA/phone.... found all the resetting, inadvertent opening of programs (via touch screen), etc way too troublesome. Was going to hold out for the Treo 650, but then I ran across the BB 7250. Read some good reviews........thought about it long and hard.....and decided to 'jump' into it to see. I must admit I was a bit skepticle at first. But thankfully, the device has proved me wrong!!

I downloaded and installed the BB today program along with all the other power toys. I'm having an issue with the messages screen though. It isn't showing that I have a new message in the BB today screen, but when I go to the messages section, I will have a new one there. So far I've only gotten SMS messages, so not sure if this part of BB Today works on email messages. Has anyone had this problem, and if so, is there a fix??

Thanks again in advance...... and color me a 'blackberry' convert!!!

I would like to have a little app that changes my LED from green to red when I have a missed call on my 7100v.

Hi, will these utilities work on a 7230 running the out-of-the-box OS?
