Default Google Talk thinks I'm British? - 04-01-2006, 03:07 PM

Sitting in the US, and trying to download Google Talk. When I go to the page on the BB website on my 7100t and try to download, it says they've detected that I'm located in the UK.

I checked my Date/Time settings, and I'm set for Eastern Standard. Also tried it pulling my time from the BB and from the network.

Am I missing some random setting that's making the site think I'm located in the UK?

Thanks.

It has to do with your ISP somehow.. locations on the internet are usually detected by IP address and who registered it, and it's not 100% reliable.

Try d/l it directly using the blackberry internet browser.

I've certainly seen funny stuff with IP's and locations when using a PC, but I got this error when trying to download from the Blackberry browser. That's the weird part.

I can try it using my desktop when I get to my office on Tuesday, but I suspect that when I try to register the app on the handheld after installing it, I'm going to get the same error.
