I know it's cheesy to answer your own post, but...the way to get it to work is to follow the Pearl instructions for activating BBWeather. I found it via a search.

I agree. Idokorro Mobile SSH is a *really* polished app, but $95 for a license kills the deal. I'll 'suffer' with a less-polished feature set with MidpSSH rather than shell out $95. Glad there's a free alternative!

I own 8700g and use Ramble for AIM. When I put my handheld in holester or it shuts down in sleep mode, so goes Ramble. it disconnects the AIM. I didn;t have that problem with the old 7290. Any ideas?

Yahoo! Go....I am IMPRESSED -
07-03-2007, 08:12 PM
Yahoo! Go for the BlackBerry 8800 just became available yesterday. I installed it this morning via an over the air download. It is AMAZING. The user interface is fantastic, and it links seamlessly to my preset headlines/weather/stocks/flickr photos etc. on Yahoo! It also has a very easy to use maps and directions "widget" (that is what they call each of the various sub-programs) that kicks the pants off of the Google mobile maps application I was using previously. Unlike the Google app, the Yahoo one loads very quickly and does not take forever to refresh views. and it has a very nice way to select your zoom level. Every one of the "widgets" is content rich and has a great submenu that is context sensitive, so it gives you options for quickly and easily dealing with the content of whatever "widget" you are using at the time. If you haven;t checked out Yahoo! Go, you should. It is extremely impressive, and on top of that, it is FREE ;)

Video on BlackBerry -
07-12-2007, 07:24 AM
Hi everyone!
I've just found very useful software for converting video for my Curve: Mobiola Studio for Blackberry (Video Converter and File Manager) by Warelex LLC
It works perfectly and very simple and must work with other phones (Pearl, 8800, 8830). I tried some converters before, but I hate when it forces me to choose codec, fps, format, screen etc, etc… But Mobiola does not!!!
And drag-n-drop functionality is amazing! It converts YouTube, DVD, any other video.
Hope my post will be useful for you!

Just tried the Mobiola trial on my Curve with Youtube and it's a complete DUD. It "converts the Youtube" video into a 0kb file on my storage card in 3gp file.
Media Player promptly tells me that it's an "unsupported file format."
Edited to read: The problem seems to be the quality setting. Used on "medium" quality, the videos convert just fine. Used on high quality, the program downloads but never converts the file.

i just downloaded Google Map, but it freezes every time when the loader bar goes to "4". When i first installed this, the installation was successful but it said memory was inadequate. If I had no memory on my blackberry in the first place, why did the map install? And how can i fix this freezing problem?

does anyone know of an app that can let me know where a call is coming from if i dont have the number saved?
my old super cheap phone had this feature and i'd love to have it again,
essentially, whenever a number not saved in my phone book came up, it would tell me the state the call was from, on the screen, i know i can google the information after the call but its really useful when getting rando calls...
anyone?

MasterDoc -
08-30-2007, 08:16 PM
Okay I looked all over their website Dynoplex telling me how great the product is and downloaded the trial version. I did not recieve a key to activate it and it does nothing apparently without one.
Nowhere could I find anything about a monthly or annual subscription on the SELLING page. Does anyone know if there is a subscription?
It also will not let you load this application without loading Efile and I dont believe it mentions anythng about that in the ad at Dynoplex.
Now I am wondering if MasterDoc is a stand alone application or part of something else you must purchase and load first. Any help would be appreciated from someone running this Dynoplex product.

Is anyone aware of a currency converter which will work on an 8130? The ideal app would work locally or via internet but if I had to choose between one or the other, I would prefer local app that does not require a connection.
Also, for those asking about BB voice record, my 8130 does have this feature so I hope this is the trend for the future.

another person answering their own question -
12-06-2007, 11:19 AM
hello again,
well a little more research and I have found a free (sort of) currency converter and them some. https://www.worldmatelive.com/li-web/index.jsf
World Mate Live has a free version with itinerary, multiple world clocks, currency converter, world map, weather, flight checks and a few more toys. MOST of this is on the free version and you can configure most of it yourself (i.e. pick your clocks, choose your currency...long lists to choose from). You can also chose to run many of the functions locally or update info (i.e. new info for weather or exchange rates) from the web. I am REALLY impressed with this software.
Should you chose/need to go with the "pro" version for the additional features, it is $10/per month or $100/year. here is the comparison chart between the paid version and the free version:

SyncJe for BlackBerry -
01-03-2008, 12:50 PM
Hello,
Since I can not find it in this list... Can we add SyncJe for BlackBerry?
SyncJe for BlackBerry lets you synchronize your Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes with any SyncML compliant server (like Oracle's and MDaemon).
It is available on the Nexthaus site here: SyncJe for BlackBerry
You can sync to your Outlook, Outlook Express, and Lotus Notes on your desktop.
Shameless quote from the website:
"What will SyncJe do for me?
Keep your information in sync between your desktop and your BlackBerry.
Keep an up to date backup of your information in case your BlackBerry is lost or stolen."
There is a free 15 day trial, for anyone interested in trying it out.

Hey, I just installed this and tried it out, and I have to say that with a few tweaks, this would be absolute dynamite. For those of us who liked the constant sync of data that the Sidekick offers, this does the same thing. You can add contacts or notes either on the BB or on the web site, and they sync up wirelessly. Very cool.
I haven't played with all the features yet, but there seem to be some shortcomings too. If you click on a contact's phone number, it initiates a phone call, as it should. If you click on a contact's email address, it does nothing. Maybe they're going to fix that.
The text entry screens don't trigger the BB's punctuation and capitalization rules, which is a drag. Especially in Notes, the BB input should work right. If there were a way to *import* contacts and notes from the BB, it would really be hot.

Anyone know where I can find a POP3 or IMAP email app for a 7520.
I have used IMM Mail, I tried 2Compose, but it doesn't install.
Also is it possible to upgrade the OS on this model.

Hello,
Shamelessly, i'm going to volunteer our non-BES service that still syncs calendar / notes / tasks (email is done via BIS). Hopefully that is OK here! Homepage can be reached at ThinkPost Communications - Home. All for only $2/month!
I hope that's ok with the mods here!

AT&T Mobile Backup -
05-20-2008, 01:39 PM
AT&T Mobile Backup now supports Blackberry devices. Backs up your contacts over the air for $1.99 per month. Pretty sweet!
AT&T Mobile Backup - Keep Your Phone Numbers Safe
How It Works
1. Backup Your Phone
AT&T Mobile Backup is an application that runs on your phone. After completing setup, the application is set to automatically back up your contacts to a secure server on a weekly basis.
If you prefer a different backup schedule, you can choose a daily backup, or you can back up anytime you want by selecting the Backup button on the main screen of the application.
All backups are sent wirelessly to our secure servers. You can then go to the mobilebackup.att.com website where you can view and manage all your contact information.
2. Update Your Phone From the Website mobilebackup.att.com
From the mobilebackup.att.com website you can easily view, manage, add, edit, delete and import contacts. Pressing the 'Update Now' button on the website will send any contact information updates wirelessly to your mobile phone's address book.
