I have the 8700 and upgraded to v4.1 -- haven't been able to get Google Local to work since the upgrade.

The error message I'm getting reads:
"Network Unavailable. Downloading maps & info depends on a network connection. Do you have a data plan? How's your reception? This program will retry automatically."

I have a data plan and my browser works fine. I reset the firewall settings so it prompted me to allow again, but that didn't fix it. I also confirmed that my application permissions settings are consistent with my browser.

Any other ideas?

Yes, it sucks coz it happened to mine (7520, BEZ, Nextel) too.
If you are on Cingular or T-mobile, I think there are some threads out there for solutions. Use the search function.
