Question Video Mail Attachments - 04-24-2006, 05:47 PM

I am a deaf user who is new to Blackberry and I get Video Relay Service video attachments in my email. Is there a way yet to view those video attachments on a Blackberry? They tend to come in WMV format.

Thanks,

Stuart

Stuart not yet, but maybe soon. Read an article about a company releasing software shortly that will allow multimedia on blackberrys. It is being show to the world at an upcomming electronics show. Would have posted a link here to the article but I cannot post links to external sites yet??? Anyway so help me be on the way.

And there's lots of photos of the 8700 (among other phones and BB's) all over their site. I see nothing but vapor at the moment. But with Jiveslide's clever integration with Flickr, I would imagine there's quite a market for an app that would let us see YouTube and/or Google Video content. It would be the same model JiveSlide uses: a third party's web application grabs the video, then re-encodes and streams it to your handheld.

I don't buy the "insufficient CPU" argument anymore. If my wife's Nokia 6102 can create and play back a thumbnail 3GP file, my 8700 certainly has the horsepower for basic video playback, within certain limitations I am willing to accept.

We're not goinig to be watching full length movies on our BlackBerries in airplanes anytime soon, but 10 to 30 second clips here and there seem quite doable. No?

the only thing is that you have to find out if your service provider will accept that feature on there network. MMS was is supported for the 8700c but Cingular decided to have RIM redo there OS so that it doesn't support it.

Default Pearl - 8100 - 09-14-2006, 12:17 PM

How about the Pearl? WMV wasn't on the list, but I'm curious about the compatibility. I'm sure is just the player limitation, not hardware.

Like Stuart, I get wmv's of video interpreters signing a voice message sent to my gmail (therefore to my BB too).
