Default Email Client Suggestions

Blackberry newbie...

I'm using POP3 and IMAP on my blackberry 8700 for email. I'm looking for a client that can sort mail by which server it's downloaded from. I suppose I could filter them to specific folders but wondering if there's some sort of "tabbed" s/w that manages email by incoming server. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks.

Just so I can be clear, on your BB you are wanting to sort e-mails from different addresses?

If so, and if you are receiving your e-mail via BIS (BIS 2.0 specifically), there should already be mail icons for each account you have set up in BIS. This would solve your sorting issue.

What carrier are you with? If you are using BIS, what version are you using?

OSB: I have emails from my work (IMAP) and Yahoo (POP3) coming in. I want those 2 separted somehow, or have different colors/icons/whatever to identify them.

OSB: Cingular. Not sure on the BIS, the client app on my 8700c just brings up a Cingular sign up window. Can I still do it w/ Cingular? I'm not using a Blackbery Exchange Server, just POP and IMAP.

Sorry for the slow response...Hopefully you have it all figured out...If not, see the following:

So do you have a cingular.blackberry.net address? Your response makes it sound like you haven't signed up on the Cingular BIS site. If not, sign up. You will select a username and password and the username will become your blackberry.net e-mail address (johndoe@cingular.blackberry.net).

After you log into BIS, do you see or have access to an inbox? if so, you are using the 1.8 version of BIS. If not you are using 2.0. Either way, you can configure BIS to poll your work and personal accounts, though you may not be able to add your IMAP account as that functionality only became available in BIS 2.0 (I think).

If you are using BIS 2.0 and you add e-mail accounts, new mail icons should appear on your BB. Each icon will be for each specific account you have added, which in my mind would solve the issue of you wanting your accounts separated. If you are on BIS 1.8, there will not be separate icons for each account. All e-mails will come in under the main mail icon.

Thanks sparky.

So do you have a cingular.blackberry.net address?
OSB: Yes I do.

After you log into BIS, do you see or have access to an inbox?
OSB: Yes. Where do I see the rev 2.0? Actually, in order to set up my IMAP, I have to use the application "Individual Email Activation" on my 8700c. There's no way to do it online.

How do I move to 2.0? Or is that a Cingular decision?

Cingular has not yet updated to the BIS 2.0

I'm a newbie as well, and also have a "sorting" question. I am configured via "enterprise activation". I am looking for much more flexible ways to sort the messages (by date, from, subject, size, etc) like in MS-Outlook. For a device which is targeted at people who need email it seems rather "stiff".

Any help would be appreciated.

Well your newbie status is confirmed by the fact that your question is off topic of the original thread which is almost 4 months old, and you may not have searched for the answer first.

No fret, all is forgiven!

Anyway, you can not sort messages on your BlackBerry. You can set up filters, save them, and have a shortcut key for easy access to them, but the search is only for Name (To, From, CC, BCC), Subject, Text (in the body of the message), Service (BES or one of your BIS accounts or ALL), Folder, Sent and/or Received, and Type (email, PIN, SMS, etc.).

To see all the display options for messages, from the Messages list click the wheel and select Options, and then select General Options.
