Default VeriChat or IM+ for Chinese?

Please Login to Remove!

I have tried out Verichat and IM+ for MSN and Google Talk, while VeriChat is very nice and stable with virtually no error message, but its too expensive at the annual subscription price.

And, Verichat does not work with "Chinese" input. I can type in Chinese, but the receipient can only see a bunch of error codes like "????".

IM+ works perfectly with Chinese input. The price is one time fee. But the down side is I often get "connection null" error message. Anyone know why it's doing that and how to improve it?

Thanks!

I recommend you contact IM+ and discuss it with them. Tell them I sent you and they will help you out. They are in Russia and Germany I think so note the time differences.

Hi Stinsonddog,

I am talking to them on this issue through email. The Several Times a Day Connection Null error message makes me feel it's not worth to use it. But verichat does not work with Chinese input. Maybe I should contact Verichat too.

Verichat replied: they don't support Chinese. Period. I doubt they support many other languages.

IM+ really works well with Chinese encoding.

"Connection error: null" problem is solved already in new 3.3.1 version.
You can download it here:

You can find connection settings here:

I appreciate your response. I just checked and found mine installation is indeed 3.3.1 version. Do I still need to re-install?

Actually, we always recommend to use Regular version.
It is more fast and stable.
Also please contact your wireless carrier. Connectivity problems not concerned with IM+ functionality, it depends on mobile provider.

You said the connection null error has been fixed in version 3.3.1 - I am using 3.3.1, and I have just re-installed it just to find all the files are the same.

You said it depends on the carrier, however, when I tried verichat, there is no connection null error at all, they are very stable. So it has to be the issue with IM+ itself.

You recommend Regular version, but that's only for BES, I am a standalone user, so that means I CANNOT use Regular version, only WAP version, right?

I love the Chinese support even I only use it 5% of the time, the convenience is good. Please look into this Connection null issue. I've already supplied all the information I gathered.

We will investigate this problem with WAP-version.

You can use Regular version, though you are not BES user.
But Cingular subscribers should have both "Data Connect" and "BlackBerry Unlimited Data" plans. Please contact Cingular in order to ensure that you have both of them.
You can download Regular version here:

With the re-installed WAP version, I am getting this error again:
"IM+ for Blackberry Connect error: null".

I am going to try Regular version - though I don't want to pay more to get "Data Connect", hope it's already there.
