Default Google Talk traffic

ok soooooo im cheap
sooo i have the Rogers 'unlimited' (which is reallly a 25 mb cap)

anndddd i wanna use google talk

i DONT wanna go over my data plan limit...does chatting on gtalk use up a lot of data traffic? is there a per-unit measure to figure it out?

any thoughts? experiences?

I'm interested to know how much traffic is passed on an idle google talk
connection.
I'm guessing a chat session only sends a few bytes depending on the length of each message.
I'm going abroad soon and dont want to run up a large bill jus by leaving google talk connected.
