Default Ascendo Datavault: Security Question!! - 06-10-2006, 10:05 AM

I just bought Ascendo's Datavault for my Blackberry 8700g and, after inputing all the data, I was wondering if anyone has ever created or published a set of security adjustment that one should make to their Blackberry to prevent outside access to all this critical data. It seems to me that it would make sense since the device is essentially always online and more vulnerable than most.

For the pros among us, any suggestion on what would be a smart set of security adjustments to keep others from having access online?

Thanks!

Arrow Ascendo Datavault: Security Question - 06-24-2006, 03:37 PM

Ok, since no one has replied to my original post, I am going to take a stab at putting down how I modified the security settings on my BB 8700g to make my data more secure with the program Ascendo Datavault. Let me know your thoughts or suggestions.

Here goes: Options>Security Options>Application Permissions>Datavault 1.1>Edit Permissions

CONNECTIONS:
USB...Allow
Bluetooth...Allow
Phone...Deny
Carrier Internet...Deny

INTERACTIONS:
Interprocess Communications...Allow
Keystroke Injection...Deny
Browser Filters...Deny
Theme Data...Allow

USER DATA:
Email...Deny
PIM...Allow
Key Store...Allow
Key Store Medium Sec...Allow

Hi wclyffe,

The information you enter into Ascendo DataVault is stored in an encrypted format(AES) so nobody else can read at it without your password. Your suggestions do provide and added level of protection which can't hurt.

best,

Thanks, and yes, I was aware of the password, but its more towards the idea of not letting anyone have initial access to the data to begin with, since everyone puts the most sensitive data in this program.
