Default GCalSync - 06-13-2006, 03:00 PM

GCalSync: http://www.gcalsync.com looks like a great tool to wirelessly sync between Google calendar and BlacKBerry. Has anyone been able to get it working? I've tried everything and can't seem to get it to work...

Cool I didn't even come across those! I think I was search GCal Sync instead of GCacSync... I'll see if messing with the APN settings do anything?

The update at the bottom of http://www.gcalsync.com/ says 2006-06-13: Version 1.0.7 released. Signed with Thawte certificate. I installed via http://wap.gcalsync.com but it indicates 1.0.4.

((EDIT)) Email sent to [email address]

1.0.7 for Blackberry is available now. I forgot to update the Blackberry
version, thanks for reminding me. Please let me know whether this release
worked for you or not. I will have a closer look at the Blackberry
problems in the weekend when I will have more time on my hands.
I suppose there will be another update in the near future.

Default fix for downloading 1.0.7 - 06-14-2006, 08:06 PM

Looks like he forgot to rename the file for blackberry. Point your BB browser to www . gcalsync . com /blackberry/ GCalSync.jar to install 1.0.7.

(had to add spaces to URL to get it to allow me to post.. I don't have enough posts to earn the privilege of posting links)

If you’re on Cingular then this could be the cause of your problem.
Quote:
On Cingular (US mobile operator), the only available option under "Read user data" and "Add and edit user data" is "Not allowed". This is due to Cingular security restrictions. "Test" fails with a SecurityException when testing phone calendar if you have this problem.

Workaround:

Under Options->Calendar address, add the private address to your calendar. How to find your calendar address. http://www.google.com/support/calend...106&topic=8608

Under Options->Username/password, remove the password.

GCalSync will now use the private address to get the calendar. The login will be skipped, and since your are not authorized you cannot add events to Google Calendar (you only get download, no upload).

No, they should show up as regular calendar entries.

I also finally got gcalsync to download 18 calendar entries but none of them have showed up in my calendar. Is there something we're doing wrong?

One solution I found for this connection error problem (with Gcalsync 1.0.7) was to go into Options->Security Options->TLS and set the TLS default to 'Handheld' instead of 'Proxy'. Then I can connect with no problem.

If I enable “Handheld” in the TLS setting then in another program BBCorrector I start receiving an error message of “null”.

I guess you have to pick your poison.

Has anyone with Cingular using a BB 8700c running Gcalsync 1.07 & BB 4.1.

But trying to sync with either method enabled, private feed or normal sync allways fails with the:

Failed due to java.io.IOException could not open tunnel failed.

Also, coogle Maps works fine, no problems connecting.

I would really love to get this working.

Thanks,

LRM

yeah.. i got a few things to sync then got the exception error. the two things that did sync (added to my empty google calendar) were the wrong time on the right day. both events were -4 hours from what they should be. so an 11am-3pm appt in my bb was added into my google calendar as a 7am - 11am event.

Wirelessly posted (VZW 7130e: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry7130e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Mine attempt at syncing added events just fine but placed them at -4 hours. Other than that, it seemed to work well. I'm away from my computer for a couple of days, but the morning agenda e-mail came in with the items it should have listed.

Default GCalSync Issues - 06-25-2006, 01:04 PM

I am using a Cingular BlackBerry 8700c and experiencing many of the same issues. I was able to download 1.0.7 onto my BB fine and configure it to communicate with Google Calendar with no network issues (mine works fine without the workaround). When I sync, it goes through the whole process and APPEARS to be fine...except when you go to Google Calendar there is NOTHING there. At all. @#$@#$@#!!@!$#@!! Any suggestions? I really, really want this to work so I can have my calendar synced across Lotus Notes, my BlackBerry and Google Calendar.

Version 1.0.8 has been released.

I was able to get this working, but it still has some bugs. Be sure the APN is set correctly, (wap.voicestream.com for T-mobile).
You can use the RSS feed from your G Calendar, but I'm pretty sure this is only to download events from google. To upload and sync new events, you need to enter your Gmail username & password in the options menu.

The major problem that I'm running into is that it is leading to duplicate events on my Gmail Calendar after every sync. I now have "Michael's Birthday" listed four time for next Tuesday.

This product is very close to perfect, but some important bugs will need to be worked out before it is very reliable.
