Default METAmessage - 06-21-2006, 12:22 AM

Let me start by stressing that I have absolutely NO affiliation with Onset Technology (who provide the METAmessage app)at all!

I was told about this app from a relative of mine who is using it and decided to give it a shot and liked it so much and thought I would share my experiences with the crowd here at BlackBerry forums.

METAmessage is a great bundle of software that does alot:

Spell check: Similair to what you have on your PC. I like it better than the browser based spell check I have been using lately.

Preview messages: with the Outlook-like Inbox Preview Pane that shows complete From: and Re: field information as well as up to eight lines of message text.

Print: Enables you to print all popular file formats (not just MS Office documents) or messages and print Web pages with their original format and graphics. If you enter a fax machine number There is a $0.10 cost per each printed page

Concierge Services: This is powered by Ask Me Now. Ask it pretty much anything and in a few moment you get the answer!! Ask Me Now was my favorite app until it was taken out of beta. My Service provider offers it at a cost of $0.75/ per answer so I quit using it. Now that I have Concierge Service I am using it like it's nobody's business!!!

Read: Self explanatory really. It lets you read attachments, converting all popular file formats Office files are supposed to keep rich text format (RTF) intact but I am yet to try this. With Read you are supposed to read Excel spreadsheets intelligently, freeze panes, adjust a cell size, and even copy a cell. I am yet to do this also.

Get Quick Info: Similair to Berry 411. You can easily get driving directions, flight information, stock quotes, movie times, weather, phone book info, etc...

Fax: Send and receive faxes directly from the BlackBerry. I am having trouble setting up recieving faxes but have successfully sent a few to the machines in our offices.

Costs: I have seen this app sell for: $6.99, $79.95 & $114.95 at Handango depending on which one you choose. I got the $6.99 and for what it offers the 7 bucks was totally worth it.

The only thing is for those of you who have really added alot of apps or other material to your BlackBerry please note that you need 16MB of free flash memory to run the app (I didn't have that issue but it was one of the first things I read in the install insructions)

I still need to spend more time with the app and max out all its features but for the few days I have had it I am just blown away by it. It's affordable and powerful.

Just checked out their website. The cost is $6.95/month or $79.95 annually. The $7 for the app sounded too good to be true.

Looks like a verify interesting application. Keep us posted as to your progress with it. I was looking over their web site and their customer base is quite impressive.

How well does their custom message alert function work? Can it be used for SMS messages as well? I may just try the 30 day trial and check it out for myself.

Well, I registered and installed the client. Very nice so far!! Extremely well integrated and all functions are quite fast. The spell checker and preview pane for email is well done. The only thing I see lacking so far is the Message Alert function. It's pretty primative compared to MessageAlert or Notifire, so I'll keep one of these around to use in tandem.

I also checked the Fax function out and it's fast and efficient, with email notification feedback on send status.

So far so good....
