Default Backgammon at Handmark

Please Login to Remove!

I just noticed a new backgammon game on Handmark's site. There is no mention of a trial version or developer. Has anyone tried out this game?

Got a link?

I did a search and got:

Backgammon Mania is done by Gera, who also does Sol Mania
Algerware Backgammon is done by Algerware, and that is their only product.

Well... This is Blackberry Forums and Handmark don't make sofware for the RIM platform. But they do have a Backgammon game for the Pocket PC.

Not True. Handmark makes a bunch of software for the RIM platform including Pocket Express, Zagats, several games (including backgammon and sudoku), etc.

Here's a direct link to the game (at least I think it's the one.)

I apologise. I browsed to their site on my Blackberry and saw no mention of Blackberry software. Then I searched their site for Backgammon and all that came up was the Pocket PC version. Somehow I screwed up.
Edit: I'm actually kind of interested in this. If someone tries it, please post. Sadly it doesn't look like there is a free trial.

I also found through a google search that they have (or will release soon) Tetris Game Pak 2 which not only has backgammon, has Tetris, JAMDAT Bowling, Aces Texas Hold'em - No Limit, Sudoku Master, & Blackjack. Sounds like a better deal if you want them all.

Not a good day for buying Backgammon. I went to buy it at Handmark but they MMS you with the download site and so during the purchase process they ask for your service provider. They don't have Rogers listed! Sent them an email asking WTF? Not too Canada friendly.

So I downloaded the trial of the Algerware version. I'm so impressed that Handmark are out of luck. This is one smart program. Problem is I burned my way through all 30 trial games playing tournaments against the computer. Now I'm ready to buy it and the Handango site is down!

Is someone trying to telling me something?

The Algerware Backgammon is very impressive. I can't beat the AI in a tournament of any length. Not yet anyway...

I did succeed in buying Algerware Backgammon when Handango came back up. I'm holding my own against the AI now - barely...

I highly recommend it.

(I also developed some rules for Match Play aginst the computer if anyone is interested. It does a great job of keeping score with the doubling cube, gammons and backgammons but it isn't programmed to let you tell the AI that you are playing to a specific match length which gives you an unfair advantage. Figured out a good system for dealing with that which allows for competitive match play.)
