Default The best free instant messaging method, hands down? - 07-20-2006, 02:51 AM

Hey guys. What is the best free instant messaging method, hands down? One that doesn't use up SMS? I guess it would also be nice if it could connect to both msn messenger and aim at the same time.

I know everyone is tired of the IM threads, sorry!

Wirelessly posted (VZW 7250/Sprint 4.1: BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Probably the "hacked" google talk method. Although I don't know if the google talk method supports MSN as I don't use MSN so I've never looked.

Searching for a new blackberry......I just cant stay away.

I use the Google Talk method. It works with MSN, AIM, ICQ, IRC, etc. Only took me about 10 minutes to set up using the *Sticky* guide. The time-consuming part was finding AIM & MSN transports that are reliable. But search through that thread and you'll see other's suggestions for reliable ones.

I also used Ramble and think Google Talk has a better interface and less bugs (besides that it uses transports).

I tried Ramble but couldn't get it to work. I'm using the Google talk configuration with AIM and it works fine.

Google talk hack using Psi. Ramble is ok but does not stay logged on and the message notification doesn't work right. AIM works good with google talk. Aol needs to just put out the software for bb. They have it for the toy phones like sidekick. Why is that?

Yes, Googletalk and PSI works but you have to find a reliable transport.
