Default Pocket Day Advantages? - 07-22-2006, 02:51 PM

I'm interested in possibly purchasing the Pocket Day Pro but I'm still not convinced that this is something that makes people like me who travel all the time more productive. I have chat tools on my 8700c, I used a GPS device in my vehicle, and I have other programs like BB Weather, Weatherbug, and some different programs I utilize often. Why would someone opt to use this program? I'm interested in doing so, but really want to know how people use this tool for productivity?

I also think that by using it, does it not then eliminate the need or desire for Themes and wallpapers?

I used it quickly as a trial but did not like the color schemes and layouts that were in front of me.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's a dashboard program. Some find it useful, including myself, some don't. YMMV.

Use what works for you

Luck.

I'm not sure that it's necessarily a "productivity tool" so much as a fine piece of useful software. Here is how I use it (except that as a baseball fanatic I have since added the Sports module below Stocks on the Summary screen).
The Month view is an excellent way to view the Calendar. I think that that particular feature (being able to scan the days ahead and see the individual appointments) does in fact contribute to productivity.

I found it less than useful - and a little ugly - and decided not to go with it. I travel a lot and found the BB outlook much more user friendly.

The color schemes, fonts, and layouts are customizable in Pocket Day setup.

Not sure what themes and wallpapers are doing in any discussion about "productivity". I love PocketDay because it is a very clean dashboard "Today-like" program. At a glance I can see what is going on (e-mails; text; calendar). Totally customizable (I don't use Tasks - so they are gone) and the integration with weather, stocks and time zones is superb.

I still have BBWeather - for a quick look at a forecast it can't be beat, but I think PocketDay is extremely useful.

I also use pocketday and find it useful. Looking at the screen and I can see missed calls, messages, appointments, weather and stocks. Also use the rss news reader to pickup yahoo headlines. Not as nice as some of the PocketPC programs such as PocketInformant, but much better than the native BB for me.

I use it and love it. I really like the ability to hot key other apps.

I do too!

However, I would like to able to hotkey a few more applications. I know I would have to give up the same number of shortcuts within PD.

I find it to be a nice front end, offers some godo info at my fingertips, and a little better "eye candy" than the blackberry home screen.

Thanks,

Jeff

The use of PocketDay as a "dashboard Today-like program" displaces a need for wallpaper, as it would not be seen as a home-screen background if PocketDay were used as you describe. The subject is PocketDay advantages where productivity is merely one component as described by the original poster.
