Please Login to Remove!

Please help me out. Looking for a good version of Tetris. I searched on this site and there's nothing really good.

Any info towards acquiring a good copy would be greatly appreciated.

...didn't the line above just sound so professional? :P

Blocks! is a no-frills version of Tetris. Here's a link to the developer's Web site: http://www.bradgoodman.com/blackberry/.

Here's another version of Tetris for the Blackberry. And this one is free. Here's the link: http://www.altagon.com/@funsoft/bbt_main.htm.

The best Tetris game for Blackberry is BBTris (s4bb.net) IMHO. It is quite expensive though...

Does this work for the 8700? I did not see it listed in the drop down

Default Jamtris

Color, sound, not too bad.

http://tomas.epineer.se/wap.

Both the Nokia version and the MIDP2 version seem to work identically on my 7130c. I couldn't get the generic version to work.

KaGlom is definately a good one. Only annoyances are slow start and closing. Can also be OTA downloaded (good for MAC owners). mobile.blackberry.com is the site to go to!

I am playing BBtris on my 7290 and it works well. As I have seen, it will work on all 71xx, 72xx, 77xx and 87xx models.

I spent an entire day downloading and trying every tetris clone I could find, and here are some quick impressions (all tested on a 7100).

By far the best version I have found is the ifone version (no relation to iPhone) linked in the previous post. The only downside is the relatively small display area for the pieces, and also sound doesn't appear to work (although it's in the options menu). I didn't need to use numlock in order to control the game, but the only way I could pause was Alt+Esc and switch to the Home Screen or another app. But, when restarting the game after doing this, the Pause menu was displayed, so this really does invoke a pause function in the game. Anyway, this is a really good implementation, the best I've found yet (and it even appears to be officially licensed -- better download it while you can, hint, hint). Tip: the 5 key selects and changes menu options.

Of all the versions/clones available at getjar and other midlet sites, only Jetris works well (it even has music, which can be turned off). It's an extremely bare-bones implementation, which is it's downside: no piece preview, no settings, no level selection, and no high scores. Other than that it plays fine. It's display area is larger than the ifone Tetris, so in that regard it's easier on the eyes.

Several versions of other clones are almost playable, but lack something important, like piece drop. Despite other recommendations on this forum, fremtris is completely unplayable on my 7100, even the new version (it may work fine on newer faster BB's, but not on my 7100). YG Blocker looks the most promising, and is therefore the most frustrating. It, again, almost works, but none of the Blocker versions I tried would recognize the keys on my device so I couldn't advance past the settings menu (a pity, because it looks pretty and the animations were smooth -- if anyone can figure out how to get any device version of YG Blocker to work, please let me know which one and how you did it!)

Other versions I tried which won't work or "almost work but still don't": Tobi-Tris, Yet Another Tetris, BTTris, BBTetris, G3tr1s, jTiles, T-Tris, Motris, SimEtris, Drop Blocks, Jamtris, ikatris, Blockis, mTetris, MobileTetris. I may be leaving a few out.

Hope this helps.

This is the only version I tried and it was close to the original version. I uninstalled it after the trial expired though. $20 is too steep for mobile device game IMO. The amount of use doesn't justify the price in my case.
