I currently administer a BES 4.1 for Novell Groupwise and while this is great for my business, for personal reasons, I keep my tasks, calendar, and phone book off of our company's system - and at home on Outlook 2003. Aside from the two different systems, and the fact that I have a BES (essentially for email only), how do I setup my home computer (which I leave on all the time) to wirelessly sync the calendar, address book, and tasks without interferring or disrupting the BES relationship between my work system and blackberry?

I've been looking for a way to wireless sync without BES for a long time. As of right now, its not possible. If you find one, please let me know.

You can wireless sync with Bluetooth without BES.

If you have BES (4.0 or higher) it is difficult (if not impossible) to sync at home (wired) and at work (wireless).

NJ, bluetooth only works within the vicinty. I am looking for a world wide remote add on.

Because RIM wants your money. RIM only supports wireless calendar sync of the address book, calendar, tasks, and memo pad when connected to a BES server.

What about Syncberry 4.1? Does anybody know how this works? I would love to sync with it in addition to the BES.....

Yes it does work. And you will need a SyncML server. However, assuming this all works, when you add a new contact at home, it will sync with your BB (SyncML) and then sync with your work via BES/wireless.

There is no way currently to have multiple address books or calendars...

Just to be clear - if I setup a SyncML server relationship on top of my existing BES relationship, I can delete the CICAL service books and replace them with the SyncML server related services and will not interfer with the email redirection from my office's BES server?

Never tried it and if ANY of our customers tried it we would toss them off of our BES and refer the matter to HR as a violation of the terms of employment.

If you only use your work groupwise for e-mail, why not just have your work e-mails cc'd/forwarded to your blackberry e-mail address, or another email address of your choosing, and run bes 4.1 express at home just for yourself to keep your other stuff in sync.

I am a BES admin for several companies also, and there is no way to have your blackberry setup on TWO different BES. Since you only use work for e-mail, the simpliest solution, is what i suggested above.

Thank you for the suggestion and I have pondered doing that very thing. The problem is that my volume of email negates that idea - the filing and reconciliation associated are crucial (example: to avoid duplicate reading and to keep up to date on the right issues). Unfortunately, my company chose to go with Groupwise as the email solution and the task/calendar functionality does not live up to what I can do with Outlook..... Will keep everyone informed accordingly....

As a BES Administrator, you should know that a BlackBerry can only be associated with ONE BES account, so syncing with your BlackBerry set up with your company's BES and syncing with your home Outlook can't be done.

What you might be able to do is to forward your work email to your BlackBerry account or set it up through BIS, and set up Desktop Manager to sync with your home instance of Outlook using the options:

• Integration Options: BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Desktop Redirector
• Choose Messaging System: Microsoft Exchange (typically used with Microsoft Outlook client)
• Message Redirection: Redirect messages using the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector

I've never used the Desktop Redirector this way, and don't know if it still wants Outlook to be connected to an Exchange server, or if Calendar / Contacts / etc. will sync wirelessly this way.

Note that depending on your company's electronic data policy, you may not be allowed to connect to your company email through BIS (as is the case at my office), and our Exchange setup prohibits a rule from automatically forwarding to an outside Domain.

I have a Blackberry 8700g with my company BES mail going into it via the company service book CMIME. Another service book CMIME for O2 mail and then the full service suite connected to my home account via mailstreet syncing Tasks,Calender Memos and again messaging CMIME.

So I have two BES servers and O2 internet mail connected to one blackberry. When first activating the BB to each BES server delete the service books you dont want.

When sending out mail the compose E-mail gives me three choices. O2, Company or Mailstreet.

So it is possible to connect two BES Servers to one Blackberry.It works a treat.
