Default BB 7290-Shark Modem-BES/MDS problem - 08-30-2006, 02:09 PM

Hi,

I am a newbie to this site and try to read through a lot of the stream to connect use my Blackberry 7290 as a way to get internet on my laptop while on travel.
Since I am switching provider all the time when on travel to Europe, I thought i will try to use shark modem and the BES option. Altough everything seems to be configured correctly, I can not get anything back from BES ( BES 4.0, 5a patches) typically bytes are sent and nothing is received. We checked also “Allow External Connections” and it was allowed by default.

Does anybody has any suggestion?

Thanks in advance,

-Eric

Do you have a vpn and have all the proxy settings correct? Took me a while to get them all to work with VPN and Lotus Notes at my firm. Also it is still pretty slow for anything but email IMO.

Default Shark Modem and BES - 08-31-2006, 11:56 AM

Thanks for your reply Stinsonddog,

We do not have a VPN, but the host for BES is behind a firewall. However all the necessary port are opened 25,53,80,443.

However, like I said typically byte are send from the Blackberry:
But nothing is received:
Right now my log in shark modem says:
Status connected:
Byte received: 0
Byte sent: 43246
So I believe the proxy is set correctly.

We also try to look at BES log's but could not locate anything relevant.
